1 MIND BODY SPIRIT NON-ACADEMIC POSITION NETWORK SUPPORT OFFICER TO COMMENCE JANUARY 2015 To cater for current and planned growth, Trinity Grammar School offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced System/Network Administrator to join our dynamic team. The network uses a wide range of technology to support the educational needs of over 2,000 students and 300 staff across three campuses located in Sydney s inner west. Working in a professional, friendly environment, the successful candidate will manage and support servers, desktops, software, networking and other technology used within the School. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the support, management and planning of the School s key database systems. They will report to the Deputy Director of ICT and work with the Network Administrator. The position commands a competitive salary package. As with roles of this nature, the key will be maintaining reliable, well-performing systems with the minimum of down time. The Network Support Officer, working closely with the Network Administrator, is to be flexible and provide the last line of support to a motivated/committed IT team. You will also be involved in key projects and will need to adhere to procedures and policies. We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously and hit the ground running, yet also provide strategic management and planning for resource utilisation. In this role you will be provided with ongoing professional development opportunities including but not limited to formal training, seminars and conferences of relevance. To be considered for this role you will have: > > 3-5+ years experience in similar roles within medium to large environments > > Relevant industry certifications > > Strong technical abilities across a broad range of technology > > Good troubleshooting skills and an ability to systematically analyse and solve problems > > Experience managing key business systems / databases for a medium sized organisation > > High level of communication skills and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) > > Good organisational and time management skills > > An ability and desire to learn new skills quickly Responsibilities > > Day to day administrative tasks ensuring smooth running of all IT Department responsibilities on any of the School s campuses > > Performing system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and information gathering to determine and prevent issues > > Management of firewalls, WAN Links, anti-spam, anti-virus, Microsoft updates > > Database administration, support and management > > Planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance/support of solutions including servers, workstations, systems, networks, applications, security and access > > Handle product licensing, upgrades, service packs, fixes, etc > > Backup planning, maintenance, restorations

The School has campuses located in Strathfield (Preparatory School), Summer Hill (Senior, Middle and Junior School), and Pine Bluff (Outdoor Education Centre on the Abercrombie River). Since its founding in 1913, Trinity has forged a reputation for outstanding academic results, a caring pastoral programme and an emphasis on both traditional and community sports. Trinity has an enrolment of some 2000 boys. The Senior School is a member of the Combined Associated Schools of New South Wales and joins in the CAS Sports competition, while the Preparatory School and Junior School are members of the Junior Schools Heads Association of Australia and participates in the JSHAA Sports and Cultural activities. All members of staff are appointed by the Head Master and they are responsible to him for the overall performance of their duties. The Head Master delegates his authority to senior staff members for the effective management of the School. Mission Statement The mission of Trinity Grammar School is to provide a thoroughly Christian education for its boys, imparting knowledge and understanding of the world we live in, and recognising the importance of spiritual qualities in every sphere of learning and living. The School actively encourages its students to grow in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man.

3 ICT Department - Mission Statement To assist the School in achieving its mission, through providing high quality technological infrastructure and supporting its application to education and administration. In supporting the School, the Department will assist all clients, including staff and students. A principal focus of the Department is supporting administration and curriculum delivery. Supervisor Deputy Director of ICT Key Purpose The Network Support Officer will work closely with the Network Administrator to develop, manage and maintain reliable, well-performing systems with the minimum of down-time. The Network Support Officer provides the last line of support to a motivated and committed IT Support team. 1. Primary Objectives. Members of the ICT Department are expected to: 1. Support the Director of ICT in all his roles and, under his direction, carry out a complete range of ICT support functions 2. Support the clients of the ICT Department (students, teachers and all other staff), to enable them to best perform their roles 3. Support the School by ensuring the continuity of ICT services, along with the security and integrity of data 4. Support the School by responding to all enquiries in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. 2. Shared Values. All organisations have a culture that is built on the shared values of its people. The roles include, but are not limited to: Common Roles to all Trinity ICT staff members: 1. Perform staff training and inductions as required 2. Assist with the development and maintenance of policies for client usage of ICT resources 3. Manage ICT facilities including booking, troubleshooting and general maintenance 4. Assist with the management and education of level 1 ICT staff 5. Escalate all enquiries beyond the scope and expertise of the individual s role, and where appropriate seek education around resolutions 6. Assist the Director of ICT and the Deputy Director of ICT in other such duties as may be required, consistent with the job holder s knowledge, skills and abilities.

4 Specific Roles: 7. Ensure the smooth running of all ICT Department services by performing day to day administrative tasks 8. Provide Level 2 and Level 3 hardware and software support for clients 9. Monitor Network infrastructure including Firewalls, VPN, WAN links, VLANs, WLANs and general network performance and security 10. Manage and monitor the school telephone system 11. Create, manage and monitor documentation for key systems 12. Maintain automated processes between AD, databases and cloud services 13. Backup planning, maintenance and restorations 14. Maintain AD environment using PowerShell, API and other scripts 15. Planning, implementation, ongoing maintenance and support for servers 16. Administer and manage and support key school databases - Denbigh, WHD, TASS and other as required 17. Complete assigned projects in agreed timeframe 18. Assist with the school lease process and transactions 19. Lead or guide the work of other support staff engaged in similar functions. 4. Essential Skills/Specifications. Minimum skills required for this role include: General: years experience in similar roles within medium to large environments 2. Advanced troubleshooting skill 3. Ability to systematically analyse and solve problems 4. Proven experience handling confidential matters 5. Strong technical abilities across a broad range of technology 6. Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation 7. High level of communication skills and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) 8. Good organisational and time management skills 9. An ability and desire to learn new skills quickly Specific: 10. Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office (all applications) 11. Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell scripting 12. Exchange Server, Office 365, cloud services 13. Experience managing and supporting database systems (eg SQL, FileMaker) 14. Maintaining backups and disaster recovery processes 15. Relevant industry certifications (degree, Microsoft Certifications, etc) 16. Standard Windows services including DHCP, DNS, IIS, etc 17. Switched networks, VLAN technology 18. Understanding of virtualised server and storage systems 19. Windows Workstation 5. Performance Indicators. Performance Indicators are a means of assessing and evaluating the characteristics of services, processes and operations of roles. These include: 1. Customer Service: Dealing with clients in a polite and appropriate manner 2. Technological Capability: The ability to deal with various technological issues and challenges that fit in and beyond the scope of the role

Confidentiality: ensures the confidentiality of all information and only disclose to others with prior consent 5. Review Procedures A formal review will occur annually and be supported by on-going informal appraisals. The process will involve the Director of ICT and the Human Resources Manager.
