1 Bachelor in Education Brief Description about the Programme B. Ed. Programme consists of theory courses which include core courses, foundation courses and optional courses, practice teaching, and practical work spread over two semesters Name of the Faculty Under Graduate Degree Regular He/ She must be a graduate from the M. S. University of Baroda or from any other University recognized as equivalent for the purpose. He/ She must have taken the Bachelor s Degree as a regular student in the or pattern. He/ She must have taken the Bachelor s Degree at least with 50 percent marks in the aggregate or equivalent grade. If he/she is a graduate with less than 50 percent marks or with lower grade, he/she must have a master s degree in the relevant subject. If a candidate is a graduate, he/she shall have graduated with one of the secondary school subjects as a major subject and if he/she has a master s degree, he/she shall have offered one of the higher secondary school subjects as a major subject. If a student has offered subjects such as Psychology, Commerce (B.Com.) at graduation level and Philosophy, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, Archaeology, Museology, Home Science, Persian, Urdu etc., at graduation as well as post-graduation levels, he/she is not considered to be eligible for admission to the B.Ed. Programme. He/she must have offered English as one of the subjects at the higher Secondary/College or University level. A candidate admitted to the B. Ed. Programme shall not do any other job/course during the same academic year. 2 Master in Education Brief Description about the Programme This programme visualizes developing in the students the right skills, competencies, attitudes and values to enable them to effectively undertake the activities of: The supervisory personnel in the educational institutions. The teachers in the Colleges of Education as well as in the University Departments of Education The teachers in the Primary Teachers Training Institutes The researchers in the professional centres of research in education and other allied disciplines. The educational technologies pertaining to the instruction and its management Guidance personnel in education Distance educators at different levels of education. Professionals in Educational Planning and Policy Development. Educational Consultants and Monitoring and Evaluation of Educational Programmes and Institutions Postgraduate Degree Regular He/She must have taken degree of Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) of this University or a degree of any other University recognized as equivalent by the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda to with 50% marks or CGPA 5.01 He/ She shall have to qualify in the entrance test of the M. Ed course. Psy. in Clinical Psychology Brief Description about the Programme Clinical psychology as one of the core disciplines in the area of mental health/illness has grown significantly in the last two decades. Consequently, the number of clinical psychologists available in service sectors has increased significantly. Though there is an upward trend, number of professionals currently available at various levels is no match to the number specified to face the ever growing demands in the field. Clinical Psychologists play an important role for optimizing health care delivery system and there is an urgent need to train more number of professional clinical psychologists. The following program provides a cohesive and meaningful training so that the trainees develop to their fullest potential and shall be able to discharge their responsibilities competently as clinicians, teachers/ trainers, researchers and administrators in the field of mental health. The aim of this course is to prepare the trainee to function as a qualified professional in the areas of mental and physical health by offering Diagnostic, Therapeutic, Rehabilitative, Administrative services, and to work towards promoting the well-being and quality-of-life of individuals. The course is developed as a rigorous two-year program with extensive theoretical inputs and widespread clinical experience to acquire the necessary skills in the area of Clinical Psychology. On completion of the course, the trainee is expected to perform the following functions: 1. Diagnose mental health problems. 2. Conceptualize specific adult and child mental health problems within a psychological framework, giving due consideration to psychosocial/ contextual factors, and carry out relevant treatment/management. 3. Apply psychological principles and techniques in rehabilitating persons with mental health problems and disabilities. 4. Work with the psychosocial dimensions of

4 physical diseases, formulate and undertake focused/targeted psychosocial interventions. 5. Work with community to promote health, quality-of-life and psychological well-being. 6. Undertake research in the areas of clinical psychology such as, mental health/ illness, physical health/ diseases and relevant societal issues viz. misconception, stigma, discrimination, social tension, gender construction, life style etc. 7. Undertake responsibilities connected with teaching and training in core and allied areas of Clinical Psychology. 8. Undertake administrative and supervisory/ decision-making responsibilities in mental health area. 9. To provide at least 400 hrs. of practical experience in dealing with mental and physical health related issues at different setups (hospitals, clinics, NGOs etc.) Postgraduate Degree Regular Minimum educational requirement for admission to this course will be Graduate degree in Psychology from any university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate, preferably with special paper in Clinical / Abnormal Psychology. 5 Master in Educational Management (M.E. D.M.) Brief Description about the Programme M.Ed.M. is a two years full time programme having 84 credit. The main objective of the course is to prepare educational researchers in the area of educational management and prepare students to take up managerial positions in educational institutions. The course is designed to offer students theoretical and practical knowledge of educational management and has a research component. Course Objectives: The course is offered with the following objectives. To provide an overview of the organization and administration of Education in India, with special particular emphasis on Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in India. To examine how organisation theory and management theory have been applied in education, in an attempt to establish the uniqueness of Educational Management. To explore the cruciality of organisational behaviour within educational institutions and to determine productive discussions that can be incorporated by the Educaitonal Managers. To acquire the ability to understand research methodology and its utilization in all the dimensions of research in Educational Management. 7 Mental Health Assessment And Psychological Testing (MHAPT) Brief Description about the Programme This course provides understanding about the Mental health and various psychological tests for assessment of mental health of an individual. 10 PG Diploma in Clinical and Applied Hypnosis Brief Description about the Programme Department of Psychology at M.S. University of Baroda has been running a Diploma Course in Clinical and Applied Hypnosis since The course has been developed based on the years of ongoing research, clinical experience and the training of many successful faculty members in clinical hypnosis. The department promotes the course as complementary as well as alternative therapy to the professionals. So far several practicing doctors and psychologists have undertaken the course and have reported its effectiveness in their routine treatments and therapies. The terms clinical hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy refers to both the diagnosis of problems and the application of hypnotherapeutic approaches to treat client/patients within a clinical and structured framework. The curriculum includes historical overview of hypnosis, myths and misconceptions about hypnosis, how our mind works, preparing and educating the client for hypnosis, the hypnotic phenomenon, principles of inducing a client into hypnosis, deepening hypnotic techniques, learning self-hypnosis, inducing hypnotic anesthesia, using hypnosis for stress reduction, hypnosis for weight loss, smoking cessation hypnosis, live hypnosis demonstrations plus supervised small group hypnosis practice sessions, all in a small class environment. Also included is Ericksonian Hypnosis Techniques, Hypnosis for pain management, Hypnotic age regression therapy, treatment of habit disorders, hypnosis for sports and athletic performance, hypnosis with children, therapeutic hypnotherapy metaphors, forensic and investigative hypnosis, sexual hypnosis therapy, hypnosis for anxiety states and phobias, hypnotherapy for past life regression, hypnosis and psychology, plus hypnotic demonstrations and small group practice sessions. Students are also given a brief on Freudâ s classical hypnosis methodology.
