11 4. DEU INSTITUTE OF MARINE SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY a. R/V K. PİRİ REİS Cruise No : 2014/ PİRİ -15 Dates : 25 August - 10 September 2014 Number of Researchers : 12 : Nihayet BİZSEL / The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Objective : The goal is to investigate and understand the contributions of subtrophic components of Aegean Sea s ecosystem to their biodiversity by considering their interactions among each other, along the paths of Black sea originated waters during its high and low run off periods. Acquiring qualitative and quantitative data and information on the impact of these waters on the ecosystem dynamics of Aegean Sea has been targeted. Area : Although Aegean Sea is considered within oligotrophic ranges regarding its productivity, it might actually have reached eutrophic level due to the impact of Black sea originated waters. Under such conditions, Aegean Sea, has been preferred to investigate how the biodiversity pattern is affected by the organisms of three distinct groups as an ideal environment. The survey has been based on comparisons of the samples to be collected on the stations, which are identical regarding the depth, profile of water column and sea bottom structure, are located impacted and and un-impacted zones along the path described above Measurement Positions/Sketch Chart : Picture-6. Survey Area inc. Aegean Sea international waters. Samples will be collected in the stations selected in Gökçeada in the North, Gökova line in the South. Research Methods : In this research together with the standart environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity, density, ph, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, PAR, light transmission etc., data for plankton, benthos and bacteria analysis as well as different forms of organic matters in water column and sediment will be collected. For evaluation, the data collected will be used in several statistical and ecological community analyses, such as multi dimensional scaling, principal component analysis, similarity indices, diversity indices. 9
