2 For Chief Justice 4 th Court of Appeals Place 1 Justice Sandee Bryan Marion Justice Sandee Bryan Marion is one of Texas most distinguished and experienced jurists. She has served as a judge for 22 years and been an attorney for 34 years. Justice Marion is a current Associate Justice on the Fourth Court of Appeals, where she has served for nearly 13 years. She is the only candidate for Chief Justice who has any experience on the Fourth Court of Appeals, the only candidate with real judicial appellate experience and the only one with experience in both civil and criminal law. Prior to her service on the Fourth Court of Appeals, Marion was a Bexar County probate judge for over 9 years. A native of San Antonio, she is an honors graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary s University School of Law. Sandee has been married for 20 years to Homero R. Garza, MD. Dr. Garza is a local physician in private practice and recently retired as a Colonel in the US Army Reserves. They have two daughters, a kindergarten teacher and an attorney, both in San Antonio. For Judge District 45 th Stephani Walsh Born in San Antonio to a physician and a lawyer Stephani is one of twelve children. She attended St. Luke s Catholic School, John Marshall High School and the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Nursing after which she was employed with the Bexar County Hospital System as an emergency room registered nurse working the night shift. Furthering her education, she attended St. May s Law School graduating in 1985 and began her legal career with a prominent trial firm. Opening her own office in 1999, focusing on family law Stephani also accepted appointments from the Court representing children in abuse and neglect cases filed by Child Protective Services. Board certified by the Texas Legal Board of Specialization in the area of Family Law, Stephani is honored to be one of the 1% of attorneys in Bexar County recognized as a specialist in her field. She has participated in the appeal of several cases to the Fourth Court of Appeals, two of which resulted in opinions that were adopted by the Legislature and are now the law in Texas. Mother of two sons, both Churchill High School graduates Stephani has been married for twenty-three years to a San Antonio Police Officer-retired and attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church. District 144 th Judge Lorina Rummel Lorina Rummel is Judge of the 144th District Court and the Republican nominee for the November election. Judge Rummel brings over 22 years of criminal trial experience to the bench, having served as a prosecutor and defense attorney prior to becoming Judge. She has handled thousands of felony cases and hundreds of jury trials throughout her career, including the most serious crimes capital crimes, murders, aggravated robberies, rapes, and burglary of habitations. As a prosecutor, Judge Rummel served in Juvenile, regular felony, DWI, and the Family Justice and Victim Protection sections of the Bexar County DA s Office. As a prosecutor, she served as the voice of victims, women and children. As a defense attorney, she served as an advocate for the defendants. Judge Rummel plans to continue serving the citizens of Bexar County by applying her exceptional experience and dedication to fairness to the 144th District Court Bench. For Judge District 150 th Renée McElhaney Former Judge Renée McElhaney has significant experience serving as a Civil District Court Judge, having served in that capacity for three years. During that time, former Judge Renée built a reputation as one of the hardest working judges at the courthouse, including drafting new operating procedures that dramatically increased the efficiency of her court. Now back in private practice, former Judge Renée has 20+ years of legal expertise. She graduated at the very top of her law school class while serving as Editor in Chief of the St. Mary s Law Journal. She then went on to build a highly respected reputation as a legal scholar, civil litigator, and now family law mediator. Both as a judge and a practicing attorney, she has tried hundreds of cases, has handled almost every kind of legal issue arising in civil lawsuits, and has even argued cases before the Texas Supreme Court. Former Judge Renée has been perennially named a Super Lawyer, was awarded an AV rating the highest possible, has authored 300+ legal articles, is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is one of the authors of the State Bar Pattern Jury Charges, books used by every Texas judge and trial lawyer. She especially enjoys being a frequent speaker and writer for legal education courses, and has been an adjunct professor of law at St. Mary s. Former Judge Renee is uniquely and most qualified to serve Bexar County as Judge of the 150 th District Court. For Judge District 186 th Jefferson Moore A shining star in our community, Jefferson Moore is one of the most well rounded judicial candidates in the race. Military veteran, former prosecutor, and an attorney in private practice with his own firm, Jefferson has 23 years experience in the law. He practices in Federal, State, and military courts. The Army appointed him to be the military magistrate for Fort Sam Houston and the State Bar of Texas appointed him to the ethics tribunal to hear grievances against lawyers. He has conducted over 100 criminal trials both as a prosecutor and as a defense attorney. The American Bar Association recognized his efforts as the supervising lawyer for the best military legal assistance office for all military services. The State Bar of Texas recognized him as the Military Attorney of the Year. Widely sought after by fellow attorneys for his expertise, he has published articles and made presentations to other lawyers on topics ranging from criminal law to ethics. He is a graduate of Tulane University and the Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans.

3 For Judge District 187th Steve Hilbig Steve Hilbig has more than 37 years of legal experience. He has served Bexar County as its elected Criminal District Attorney, a Justice on the Texas Fourth Court of Appeals, an Assistant United States Attorney, and an Assistant Bexar County District Attorney. Steve has tried more than 150 criminal jury trials in state and federal courts, from traffic offenses to capital murder cases where the death penalty was imposed. Steve Hilbig holds certifications in two areas from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Steve is certified in Criminal Law and in Criminal Appellate Law by that organization indicating special competence in those areas of Law. Steve is one of only six attorneys in San Antonio that hold both certifications. Steve Hilbig was raised on the Eastside of San Antonio and is one of six boys born to Edward and Marie Hilbig. He attended St. Gerard grade and high schools, San Antonio College, and the University of Texas undergraduate and law schools. He has been married to Sylvia Hutzler Hilbig for 38 years. District 224 th Judge Cathleen Cathy Stryker District 226 th Judge Sid Harle Judge Cathleen ( Cathy ) Stryker was elected to the 224th District Court in She received her bachelor s degree from Cornell University and her law degree from Villanova University School of Law. Judge Stryker had over 17 years of wide ranging courtroom experience before taking the bench. She spent much of her career with the firm of Ball & Weed, P.C. as an associate and later a partner. In 2005 she became a founding member of McClenahan, Anderson & Stryker, PLLC, a boutique litigation firm, where she remained until taking the bench. Judge Stryker became a mediator in 2006 for both civil and family law matters. She was a frequent volunteer mediator at the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center. Judge Stryker has served on the Board of Trustees and as Vice President for the Judson Montessori School and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Bexar County Women s Chamber of Commerce. Judge Stryker has been married for 22 years and is the mother of twin 15 year olds. She is one of the highest rated of all of the Civil District Judges as reflected in the most recent poll of licensed attorneys in Bexar County. Judge Stryker has been endorsed by Bexar PAC (political action committee of concerned doctors); the Professional Firefighters Association; the Deputy Sherriff s Association and the San Antonio Police Officer s Association. She has been selected as an Advisory Board Member to the San Antonio Bar Association Family Law Section and serves on numerous judicial committees. After a successful tenure at the Bexar County District Attorney s Office and a strong private practice career, Governor Clements appointed Judge Sid Harle to the 226th District Court in 1988, making him one of the youngest judges in the history of Texas. Harle s integrity and expertise led to his appointment to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, a state agency that is responsible for investigating allegations of judicial misconduct. He has been recognized nationwide and has been appointed to prestigious positions such as the Commissioner of the Criminal Justice Integrity Unit, the Law and Science Subcommittee of the National Forensic Science Commission, and the Judicial Branch Certification Committee, in addition to serving on numerous boards involving judicial ethics, youth crime, recidivism, judicial conduct and law enforcement. Additionally, Harle is often consulted by the State Legislature and has contributed many innovative and effective ideas to help the legal community. Family comes first for Harle and he values spending time with his wife of almost 30 years Carol, children Kim and Paul, grandchild Nick, and six rescue dogs. Additionally, as a San Antonio native, Harle has a deep-rooted passion to donate his time and resources to help his community and always dedicates time to help area schools and nonprofits. For Judge District 227 th Kevin M. O Connell Kevin M. O'Connell is a candidate for the 227th Judicial District Court in Bexar County. The 227th court handles all types of felony offenses from theft to capital murder death penalty cases. Mr. O'Connell has been a felony prosecutor in Bexar County for over 20 years. During that time he has handled over 7000 felony cases. He has served as 1st chair prosecutor in several courts, as well as the family justice division. He has also served as the Chief of the Bexar County Driving While Intoxicated Task Force and is currently the liaison to the San Antonio Police Department Homicide Unit, handling all murder cases investigated by SAPD. Mr. O'Connell has tried dozens of felony cases to Bexar County juries as well as several death penalty cases. Over the last 24 years, Mr. O'Connell has been a tough but fair advocate for the district attorney's office and the victims of crime in Bexar County. With a proven record of excellence in the courtroom, Mr. O'Connell seeks to bring that excellence to the 227th District Court. Mr. O'Connell is married to wife Lydia and they have 3 boys. District 285 th Judge Richard Price Judge Richard Price presently serves the citizens of Bexar County as the Judge of the 285th District Court and before that, as Judge of the 408th District Court of Bexar County. A native of San Antonio, Judge Price received his Bachelor of Arts from Trinity University, his Masters of Business Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word and his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. His legal practice spans over 25 years as a well-known and highly respected trial attorney, mediator and Judge. Before taking the bench, he handled cases involving personal injury, product liability, toxic torts, construction, foundation and mold, insurance and pro bono family law issues. During his time on the bench, Price has been consistently rated as one of the top Civil District Court Judges in Bexar County. In the survey, he received the second highest rating for judge s performance of all Civil District Court Judges in Bexar County. In a more recent March, 2014, Judicial Report Card, he received an A grade of out of a potential 100 points and received one of the three highest scores of all Judges included in the Judicial Report Card. Widely recognized for his wisdom, calm demeanor and respect for everyone who appears in his courtroom, Price is a proven performer who deserves to be re-elected. 4 District 288 th Judge Sol Casseb Judge Casseb was born and raised in San Antonio. Judge Casseb was graduated from St. Mary s University and law school from The University of Texas. He has been married to the only girl he ever loved for 42 years. He has three wonderful daughters and six beautiful grandkids. Judge Casseb worked his way through school no loans; no grants; no gifts just hard work. He began his legal career with Fred Semaan, a noted trial lawyer. No one in the office ever charged a fee to any member of the police or fire department a fact which Judge Casseb is proud of to this day! Judge Casseb then went to work for his father s firm, where he worked for almost 30 years before being appointed to the 288th District Court. He was elected in 2010 and is now seeking re-election. Judge Sol Casseb brings 40 years of legal experience to this position, as well as varied service on civic, community and legal organizations. He is AV Rated in Martindale-Hubbell, and prior to assuming the Bench was named in the 2007 and 2008 editions of Best Lawyers in Americas as Mediator, as well as being named a Super Lawyer in Family Law in Texas Monthly from , and as both a Family lawyer and Mediator Best Lawyer in Scene in SA from Lastly, he scored near the top in the three judicial polls taken since having been a Judge. Even before she had children of her own, she volunteered in youth organizations. Juvenile Law is a specialty that deals with children ages that have been arrested. She is an active member of this community and participates at school, church, and sporting activities. She is married and a mother to two sons, aged 13 and 10, the ages this court serves. This court needs a fresh outlook. She has the energy and the desire to improve the performance of the court. She is an experienced juvenile prosecutor, defense attorney, and juvenile law referee, who presides over cases in the elected Judge s absence. She has been Board Certified in Juvenile Law since 2002 and has been recognized as a San Antonio Best Lawyer of 2014 by San Antonio Scene Magazine. As a business owner, she knows the value of time and money. She pledges to work hard, follow the law, and treat everyone that enters the Court with respect, thus restoring competence and integrity to the Court. District 290 th Judge Melisa Skinner Judge Melisa Skinner is a 6th generation Texan who was born and raised in San Antonio. She attended Providence High School, the University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary s School of Law, graduating with honors from all three. Judge Skinner was licensed to practice law in 1993 and began practicing criminal law as a solo practitioner. In 1994, she became an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the County of Bexar. She then served the community for almost 15 years as a prosecutor representing the State of Texas against those accused of crimes ranging from misdemeanor offenses to cases in which the State sought the death penalty. She was honored as Best Lawyer in Prosecution in 2006, 2009 and 2010 before she was elected as Judge of the 290th Judicial District Court. As judge of the 290 th Criminal District Court, she has presiding over every type of felony offense, including multiple Capital Murder cases. Judge Skinner has extensive experience in the area of criminal law as a trial lawyer and now, as a State District Court Judge. She is seeking re-election for another term and is best qualified to serve our community in this felony criminal court. District 436 th Judge Lisa Jarrett Lisa Jarrett has been judge of the 436th Judicial District Court since its creation. Appointed in 2009, she was elected to that position by voters of Bexar County in The 436th District Court serves all of Bexar County and handles juvenile law matters exclusively. Judge Jarrett has been a lawyer for over 20 years. She served with the Harris County District Attorney s Office and Bexar County District Attorney s Office. For the twelve years before she took the bench, Judge Jarrett was a criminal defense attorney and handled misdemeanor, juvenile and felony matters. The last two of those years, she also served as a juvenile law referee. In addition to her regular duties, Judge Jarrett has started a Family Enrichment Docket, focused on rehabilitating juvenile offenders who come from homes with a history of family violence and a Crossover Docket, which consolidates cases in the Juvenile System with those that involve Child Protective Services in an effort to best provide for the needs of juveniles who find themselves in both systems. While working to rehabilitate those juveniles who can be helped, Judge Jarrett is not hesitant to remove those juveniles from our streets who pose a danger to our community. District 437 th Judge Lori I. Valenzuela Judge Lori I. Valenzuela has been presiding over the 437th Criminal District Court since 2009 when she was appointed to the newly created court by Governor Perry. She was later elected in Judge Valenzuela oversees a docket of cases that range in punishment from State Jail felonies to the death penalty. Before she took the bench, Judge Valenzuela served as a Bexar County Assistant District Attorney. Her work included felony domestic disputes, including murders, abuse of children, and the elderly, and cases involving sexual violence. Upon leaving the District Attorney s Office in 2007 as a First Chair Felony Prosecutor, Judge Valenzuela started her own criminal defense practice and later served as a Bexar County Magistrate. She is an alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary s University School of Law. Her current community involvement includes serving on two local boards: St. Peter s St. Joseph s Children s Home and Family Service Association. 5 County Court at Law #1 Judge John D. Fleming Judge Fleming was raised in Wichita Falls, Tx., where he attended Midwestern State University, obtaining his B.S in Chemistry and M.A. in Political Science. He then moved to San Antonio in 1997 to pursue a J.D. at St. Mary's University. Upon completing his J.D. in 2000, in the top 10% of his class, he engaged in solo practice for a short time before going to work for the Bexar County District Attorney. He spent 10 years in that office trying numerous cases before juries, ranging from simple shoplifting cases to murder cases. One assignment in that office that truly prepared him for the caseload he carries now, was his two years on the DWI Task Force, prosecuting felony intoxication offenses. With his election in 2010, he took the bench as Judge of County Court 1. During his time on the bench, that court has consistently been at or near the top in cases resolved and collections for the county and victims, he gets the job done. It is with great honor and humility that he serves in that capacity, doing his best for the people of our community and he hopes to gain your support in his bid for reelection. County Court at Law #2 Judge Jason Wolff In 2009, as a felony prosecutor, I ran on the promise to bring justice back to County Court 2. With over 3000 criminal cases, 1500 set for a jury trial, and an average of over 200 new cases a month, County Court 2 was by far the biggest back-logged court in Bexar County. Since taking the bench in 2011, while also hearing civil matters, I ve done what many said was impossible. I ve reduced the docket by 2000 cases and jury trial settings by almost 90%. County Court 2 has gone from worst to first. No one will ever have to wait for justice again. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote. For Judge County Court at Law #3 Art Rossi Art Rossi, an attorney-mediator, who is a married father of 3 children and 3 dogs, including his latest, which was adopted from SA Humane Society. Art Rossi has a successful litigation and mediation practice primarily in the areas of family law and business. This has been recognized by Art s peers with the award of an A-V Preeminent rating by Martindale.com, which is the highest peer review rating for ethics and competence. Art is also board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law, and he is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Art Rossi generously shares his resources: Art serves as an elected officer-director of various professional organizations, including the Family Law Section of the SA Bar Association. Art volunteers his time as a mediator with the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center, as a member of the Catholic Charities advisory board, and as a mentor with Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans and CJP. Art is active in his church as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and in other service. Art also serves our community in other service organizations, such as Assistant Scoutmaster. Garrahan Jason Garrahan was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where he and his wife are raising their new baby daughter. Jason graduated from Churchill High School then received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. In 1997, Jason built and operated his own restaurant on Blanco Road, Hungry Farmer Steakhouse and Uncle Barney s Burgers, until In 2001, Jason attended St. Mary s Law School while still operating his own business and graduated law school in Also in 2004 Jason passed the State Bar Exam and was certified in mediation. In 2005, Jason accepted a position at the Bexar County D.A. office as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney; he is currently a First Chair in the 186th District Court. Jason has extensive experience in criminal law, he has practiced in justice of the peace courts, county courts, and district courts in Bexar County, and in 2013 he was a special prosecutor in Wilson County. Jason has tried over 85 jury trials, misdemeanor to murder. His business and legal experience give Jason unique qualifications to run County Court #4. His legal experience and his ability to operate his own business show he has a strong and proven work ethic. County Court at Law #5 Judge Jason Pulliam Judge Jason Pulliam was elected to office in November Since assuming office, Judge Pulliam has handled criminal and civil cases. He is one of three County Court Judges who receives cases from the Presiding District Court. He has presided over more than 80 trials. Judge Pulliam resolved more than 3,000 cases and reduced his caseload by more than 450 cases in fiscal year He served as County Court Administrative Judge in 2013 and helped to reduce indigent defense costs by almost $200,000. Judge Pulliam is the recipient of the 2011 SAYLA (San Antonio Young Lawyers Association) Honorary Young Lawyer of the Year Award. Judge Pulliam also serves as a member of the Texas Center for the Judiciary s DWI Curriculum Committee where he works with judges from around the state to design courses for judges who handle intoxication related cases. Prior to his service on the bench, Judge Pulliam worked for a well-respected civil litigation firm in San Antonio. He was named Rising Star by Scene in SA magazine in 2008 & He was named Texas Rising Star by Law & Politics magazine in He was named Outstanding Lawyer by Scene in SA magazine in 2009 & Judge Pulliam also served in the United States Marine Corps as a JAG lawyer and received the 2002 Defense Counsel of the Year Award. Judge Pulliam graduated from Texas Southern University s Thurgood Marshall School of Law with honors and served on the school s law review. County Court at Law #6 Judge Wayne Christian Judge Wayne Christian is a native of San Antonio and a graduate of Alamo Heights High School, Trinity University and St. Mary s University School of Law. Following law school, Judge Christian volunteered for active duty with the U.S. Army s 82 nd Airborne Division as an Airborne Infantry and Judge Advocate General s Corps officer. Upon leaving the active army, he continued his military career as a Special Operations Legal Advisor in the Army Reserve, serving in Panama, Thailand, and Afghanistan with U.S. Army Special Forces. Retiring after 30 years of service, Colonel Christian s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Expert Infantryman s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge and British, Thai, and Canadian Parachute Badges. First elected as a County Court at Law Judge in 1996, Judge Christian has disposed of more criminal cases, tried more jury trials, and recovered more restitution for victims than any other County Court Judge in Bexar County history during his term in office. Judge Christian has served for over 30 years as a Certified Texas Peace Officer, Criminal Justice Prosecutor, Criminal Defense Counsel, and Texas State Judge. He has been an Adjunct Instructor at the San Antonio Police Academy and is presently an Adjunct Professor of Law and Consultant for the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary s University School of Law. 6 County Court at Law #7 Judge Eugenia Genie Wright Judge Eugenia "Genie" Wright is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from the University of Georgia. Before becoming a judge, she practiced family and criminal law. She is licensed to practice law in two states. Judge Wright is bilingual, a tremendous asset in interacting with our multicultural community. County Court #7 handles violence cases dealing with all domestic relationships. Since taking the bench in 2011, Judge Wright has: Reduced pending cases by more than half; Reduced the resolution of cases from an average of three years to less than one year; Saved taxpayers millions of dollars by reducing the number of inmates in the Bexar County jail by personally presiding over jail court and closely monitoring the court's jail population; Worked closely with our probation department to monitor defendants on probation or deferred adjudication, resulting in a greater success rate for those on probation, increased monitoring of probationers and more rapid revocation for those not in compliance; Worked with family violence class providers to ensure compliance in registering and maintaining attendance. Judge Wright is a member of the San Antonio Bar and the Texas Bar. She is active in a long list of other civic and non-profit organizations. For Judge County Court at Law #8 Celeste Brown Celeste Brown, as a descendent of the Canary Islanders is committed to justice in Bexar County. She is a Churchill High School graduate. She earned a Bachelor s Degree in Political Science from Southwest Texas State University and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from St. Mary s University School of Law. Celeste established her law practice in 1993, and for twenty years has been handling a wide variety of cases in state courts. She, along with her brother, Shawn Brown, work together handling civil and criminal matters. They have a very active courtroom practice. Celeste is endorsed by the Bexar County Adult Probation Officers Association whose members work daily in the County Courts and see a need for change in County Court #8. The Texas Leadership Coalition also endorsed her knowing she will be Fair, Focused and Firm. Celeste gives back to the community by helping the UTSA Family Life Center (Sarabia Center), volunteering in the Alamo Heights schools, and literacy causes. Celeste was a frequent participant in the Courts in Schools program taking the courtroom to the classroom to teach young people the consequences of their actions. Celeste is a single mother of three young children, Cade, Gage and Lauren. They attend Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. County Court at Law #9 Judge Walden Shelton Judge Walden Shelton was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and UTSA with a degree in Finance. He attended law school at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law); he also holds a Master s degree in Management. He has been married to his wife Michelle for 17 years and has one daughter. Judge Shelton is a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Judge Shelton was a Martindale-Hubble rated trial lawyer, and was twice selected as a Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly. As Judge he has saved over $100,000 in your tax dollars, reduced the backlog of cases in his court by over 550 cases and has collected over three million in Restitution and Fines for the victims of crime. Judge Shelton has been an innovator at the Courthouse: He was the first County Court Judge to try a DWI Blood warrant case in Bexar County, was the first Judge in Bexar County to use the Soberlink alcohol monitoring device; drafted the DWI Standing Blood Discovery Order used by all County Court Judges in Bexar County and is currently working the DWI Standing Breath Discovery Order to be used by all County Court Judges. Judge Shelton is endorsed by the San Antonio Police Officers Association, the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association, and was the first Judge endorsed by the Bexar County Adult Probation Officers Association. For Judge County Court at Law #10 Karen Crouch Karen Crouch is a native Texan. Karen is a graduate of Baylor University and St. Mary s School of Law. Karen entered the private practice of law where she tried cases in all levels of courts. She tried over 150 jury trials before being elected as a County Court at Law Judge. During her sixteen years as an elected judge, Karen was consistently recognized for her effectiveness in returning the largest amount of money to Bexar County taxpayers while maintaining the lowest backlog of cases. She was the managing judge of the Courts in Schools program and supervised neighborhood cleanups. She presided over more than 480 jury trials and hundreds of thousands of nonjury matters. Karen was inducted into the San Antonio Women s Hall of Fame. She taught Sunday school, participated in Say No to Drugs and Literacy Programs. The SAISD recognized her as a Friend of Education. Karen received the Superintendent s Award from NEISD for her work in the schools. Karen is married to Gerald Flores, a retired educator, Central Catholic and UTSA alum. They are the proud parents of three children: Gerald William, Nicholas, and Lillianna. Karen currently sits as a Judge by assignment throughout Texas and works as a mediator and arbitrator.

7 For Judge County Court at Law #11 Tommy Stolhandske Tommy Stolhandske is a third generation Bexar County attorney. He is proud to work with and learn from his grandfather, Tom Stolhandske and father, Matt Stolhandske. Tommy has handled over 2000 criminal cases and is an outstanding and respected defense attorney. He has been amongst the youngest attorneys honored for the last two straight years by Scene in SA Magazine as one of the top criminal defense lawyers in San Antonio. Born and raised in San Antonio, Tommy chose to follow the steps of his father and grandfather before him at St. Mary s University School of Law. Some of the most formative lessons in Tommy's career were those he learned in Innsbruck, Austria under Supreme Court Justice Scalia, whose answer to every difficult legal question faced by attorneys and courts was, do what the constitution says. While at St. Mary s, Tommy was granted internships with the Bexar County District Attorney s Office where he came to realize that his true passion is criminal law. Judge Roberts has reduced his active docket by over 400 cases. Judge Roberts has also expanded the Bexar County Mental Health Court by 50%. Judge Roberts, while working with the other Republican Judges has reformed both the pay scale and method of appointing indigent defense attorneys saving the county and taxpayers of Bexar County hundreds of thousands of dollars. For Judge County Court at Law #13 Crystal Chandler Crystal Chandler has dedicated her 16-year professional career to public service and the practice of criminal law. After graduating from Incarnate Word College and then St. Mary s University School of Law, Crystal worked for two years as an attorney for the Court of Criminal Appeals, the highest criminal court in Texas. For the past 15 years, as a Bexar County Assistant Criminal District Attorney, Crystal has prosecuted serious criminal cases before the trial courts, the intermediate appellant courts, The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Before being promoted to senior prosecutor, Crystal served in a specialized unit where she prosecuted physical and sexual violence crimes committed against children, families, and the elderly. Crystal is also a co-founder and former board member of Chapter 61 Ministries, a non-profit organization engaged in the fight against human trafficking. This non-profit eventually grew into Truckers Against Trafficking which was recently named to the United Nations list of 100 Best Anti-Human Trafficking Practices in the world. Crystal is frequently asked to be a speaker at national, state, and local continuing legal education courses for lawyers. She is also an educator, having taught criminal law courses at Alamo Colleges. For Judge County Court at Law #14 Susan Skinner Susan Skinner has dedicated her entire career to our Criminal Justice System and will bring 30 years of well-balanced experience to County Court #14, a misdemeanor criminal court. In those three decades, she has demonstrated a genuine commitment to public service. Susan began her career as a child protective service caseworker for Texas Department of Human Services and spent 7 years with Bexar County Adult Probation as a probation officer. After law school, she served 15 years as a prosecutor in the Bexar County DA's Office. She was a violent crimes prosecutor specializing in the prosecution of gang-related crimes and the drive-by shootings that plagued our community in the 1990's. In 1999, she was selected as a first chair felony prosecutor responsible for the prosecution of sex crimes against children, child death cases and domestic violence murders. In 2007, she established her own law practice as a criminal defense attorney and currently practices in all Bexar County misdemeanor and felony courts. Susan is a native of San Antonio and a 1976 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She received her BSW from SWTSU, her MSW from OLLU, and graduated cum laude from St. Mary's Law School.
