1 Tues., 2/14 Chicken Nuggets Potatoes Rroll St. Luke School Newsletter February 13, 2012 Catholic Schools Week!!!! Wed., 2/15 Pizza Salad Thurs., 2/16 Nachos Vegetables Food Drive This Week! Fri., 2/17 Bosco sticks Corn Tues., 2/21 Chicken Strips Potatoes Roll Every month, we do a food drive for the St. James Food Pantry. This month, there is a special need for TOILET PAPER! Toilet paper is included in the Handy Packs given to families through the pantry. Please send packs of 4-9 rolls. We will hold a contest this month. COSI We Need YOU! COSI on Wheels is coming to St. Luke School on Thursday, March 8 th. This year s theme is What s Wild. The activity is for students in K-6. We will need lots of volunteers. We need volunteers for morning or afternoon sessions. If you are able to help, please contact Pat Kretz or Bobbie Smith at: kretzp@stluke.cnd.pvt.k12.oh.us or smithr@stluke.cnd.pvt.k12.oh.us. You can also contact the school office at , ext. 401 or 402. Thanks! We Need Your Cooperation Due to the many events at school and in the church, we have a lot of activity and traffic in both our front and back lots. Recently, we have had quite a few complaints about the unsafe driving in our lots, before, during, and after school. Please be patient as other drivers are traveling through the lot. Be mindful of children and others as they are walking in and out of the buildings. Many distractions inside and outside of our vehicles can steal our attention and cause accidents that are avoidable. Please follow the guidelines mentioned in the Parent/Student Handbook, which is available on our website: To that end, please make a note of the license number, make and color of a car that you have witnessed engaging in hazardous driving. Please send the information to the school office and we may have to ask the Beavercreek Police Department for their assistance. Thank you for your help. Pennies for Patients Clarification Our Honor/Memory Wall is to honor ALL cancer patients, not just the blood cancer patients. Please consider honoring a loved one by completing the form at the end of the newsletter.

Your chances to be the winner in the end will increase the more dollar bills and half dollars you add to another homeroom s jar! 4 Collection ends and the final tally will determine the pizza party winner. NEW THIS YEAR: You can go directly to our donation site at: and donate directly to the campaign! You can use a credit or debit card and we will receive credit for the donation as well as the classroom/student you designate!

5 Pennies for Patients Campaign for 2012 February 3 through February 24, 2012 Most of us have been touched by cancer, be it a close relative, friend, even ourselves. I lost both of my parents to multiple myeloma, a blood marrow cancer. Mr. Morter s 24- year old niece is battling multiple myeloma, as is our former St. Luke School Psychologist, Karen Schmitt. Research in the transplantation of one s own stem cells is being funded by your donations. Mrs. Schmitt and Mr. Morter s niece are just two people being helped and likely saved by this important breakthrough. Mrs. Trick joins us as a coordinator. Andrew, Mrs. Trick s oldest son was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in March of His treatment went very well and Andrew is back at Ohio State resuming his studies! Your donations to the important research in this field is making it possible for these patients to reestablish good health when their treatments have ended. Mary Ann Scarpelli, who lost her young cousin to leukemia, will once again be helping with the counting of the money collected. Thank you, Mary Ann! We have not established a goal, so the sky s the limit! Please give what you are able. May God bless your families with good health and good friends. --Thank you for your generosity ~ Nancy Trick and Deb Sutton, Pennies for Patients Coordinators. NEW THIS YEAR: You can go directly to our donation site at: and donate directly to the campaign! Donate $10.00 and we will place a plaque in honor of or memory of a loved one on our campaign bulletin board by the cafeteria. The plaque will be used to cover the heading: Make Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma Disappear. Hopefully, we will be able to make the words disappear under the numerous plaques! If you wish to donate $10 (or more), and wish to honor someone, please complete the form below and send with cash or checks made payable to: The Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or LLS. THANK YOU!
