9 ATTENTION ALL PARENTS It s HawkWalk Time! The Home and School Association is excited to be kicking off our spring fundraiser The HawkWalk Marathon! This is always a fun-filled day for students, faculty, and volunteers. We are looking forward to another successful event this year, but we need your help! TO GET STARTED The children will be writing letters during school hours on Tuesday, February 16 th, asking friends and family to sponsor them for the marathon that will take place on Friday, April 22 nd. In order to accomplish this, we need the students to each bring the names and addresses of 10 or more friends or family members on the enclosed sponsor sign-up sheet. Think of your Christmas list. These addresses can be out of town, even out of state. These addresses can be anyone you feel will help your child succeed in this fundraiser. **Remember, if you have 3 children, you do not need to have 30 different addresses. All 3 children may send a letter to the same person. For example, the same aunt can be listed on all 3 lists- BUT ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE 10 NAMES AND ADDRESSES ON THEIR OWN LIST. Also note that any student who brings 15 or more addresses to school will receive a NUT (No Uniform Today) card to be used any Friday in March! NEW THIS YEAR We will also be sending home blank labels as another convenient way for us to address the envelopes. If you are a parent of a student in grades K-3 rd, please fill out these labels, as well as the sponsor lists. We use the lists for tracking, and it will help the committee to know which labels are for which students. Please keep the labels attached to the sponsor sheets at all times to prevent confusion. We encourage students in grades 4-8 th to handwrite their own labels on Letter Writing Day or even at home beforehand. (Who doesn t enjoy seeing a personally hand-written envelope from a student in their life?! ) Also note any special names on your sponsor sheets such as Aunt, Grammy, Grandpop, etc., so the students can make their letters more personal. **Note that sponsor letters must be sent to adults over the age of 18.

10 AND, DON T FORGET we are also asking that you supply 10 stamps (or as many as needed) for each of your children. I will ensure your labels and stamps are given to your child with HawkWalk envelopes on Letter Writing Day. Please send the list of names with addresses and stamps to school no later than Wednesday, February 10 th. NOW FOR THE FUN PART As a reward for their efforts, every $10 a student raises will earn him/her a raffle ticket for a chance to win great prizes. The more letters mailed, the more chances for raffle tickets and prizes! Plus, the classroom that raises the most money will received a special treat. FINAL THOUGHTS Please remember to note your child s t-shirt size on the sponsor list of addresses. All students who participate in the letter writing campaign with 10 letters or raise $75 in non-corporate sponsorship will receive a HawkWalk t-shirt. **NOTE: Mrs. Okula has approved the shirt to be worn for gym days! THIS IS OUR LARGEST FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY! All profits come directly to St. Jane s school and to our children. This year, we hope to raise enough money to renovate more bathrooms and make technology upgrades! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Staci Burgess via at or call Thanks in advance for your cooperation in making this another successful HawkWalk!
