Parish Offices Closed Thursday, November 23, 2017 and Friday, November 24, 2017 Ecumenism In the mid twentieth century, the Christian Churches of the world began exploring their relationships with each other. Instead of focusing on the centuries of differences since the Protestant Reformation, the Christian Churches began looking at their similarities. The documents of Vatican II talked about the relationship of the Catholic Church with the Orthodox and Protestant faiths. It also made groundbreaking advances in the church s relationship with the Jewish people, and even recognized the shared belief in one God with Islam. Notre Dame has had an exemplary relationship with the Christian Churches of West Essex as well as with Peace Island and the temples and synagogues in the area. Each month I attend a meeting with the other local religious leaders to build up relationships and to address issues in our community which affect us all. On Tuesday, November 21, Notre Dame will have the honor of hosting this year s inter- faith Thanksgiving Prayer Service. All of the ministers and rabbis in the area will be here to lead our community in prayer, but we need a showing of parishioners who believe that it is important to get along with our neighbors of faith. Join us Tuesday evening at 7:30 in the church. We want our neighbors to experience firsthand the warmth and welcome of Notre Dame! Thank you. Fr. Tom Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service Tuesday, November 21, :30 pm - Notre Dame Church This celebration of Thanksgiving is sponsored by the West Essex Ministerial Association and provides the opportunity for the community of all faiths to come together and give thanks to God.
