Physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists and allied healthcare professionals will be provided information that offers them a deeper understanding of the essentials of care required for the complex patient needing critical care air and ground transport. Lectures will be presented that will help participants develop leadership skills. CRITICAL CARE PROCEDURAL ANATOMY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This portion of the Critical Care Transport Medicine Conference is for transport crew members who wish to update and practice critical care techniques that will enhance their ability to provide the best possible care to patients who are most in need. The program offers state-of-the-art updates on clinical procedures. The didactic sessions include topics on emergent airway management, surgical airway management, chest tube insertion and management and pericardiocentesis, ventilation assessment and ventilator management, intraosseous vascular access, and tourniquets and control of bleeding. A Procedure Lab will be provided for participants to practice the techniques they have discussed during the lecture session. Educational Objectives: At the completion of the Critical Care Procedural Anatomy Program participants will be able to: hands-on skills practice for critical care procedures to include central line insertion, chest tube insertion, intraosseous access, ventilator management and surgical airway (cricothyroidotomy). success rates and complications from the use of these devices and techniques used in the emergency treatment of the critically ill and/or injured patient.
