What is evangelism? To present Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit to sinful people, in order that they may come to put their trust in God through Him, to receive Him as their Savior, and serve Him as their King in the fellowship of His Church. J.I. Packer, Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God

What is evangelism? Communicating the gospel.

Why is evangelism expected of us? Jesus has commanded us to witness. Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.

Why is evangelism expected of us? Jesus has commanded us to witness. Mark 16:15 He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

John 20:21 Again Jesus said, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. I. EVANGELISM IS EXPECTED Why is evangelism expected of us? Jesus has commanded us to witness.

Why is evangelism expected of us? Jesus has commanded us to witness. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

John 9:1-2 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

John 9:3-4 "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

John 9:5-6 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes.

John 9:7-8 "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, "Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?"

John 9:9-10 Some claimed that he was. Others said, "No, he only looks like him." But he himself insisted, "I am the man." "How then were your eyes opened?" they demanded.

John 9:11-12 He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see. "Where is this man?" they asked him. "I don't know," he said.

John 9:13-14 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a Sabbath.

John 9:15-16 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. "He put mud on my eyes," the man replied, "and I washed, and now I see." Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others asked, "How can a sinner do such miraculous signs?" So they were divided.

John 9:17-18 Finally they turned again to the blind man, "What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened." The man replied, "He is a prophet." The Jews still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man's parents.

John 9:19-20 "Is this your son?" they asked. "Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?" "We know he is our son," the parents answered, "and we know he was born blind.

John 9:21-22 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don't know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself. His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for already the Jews had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ would be put out of the synagogue.

John 9:23-25 That was why his parents said, "He is of age; ask him. A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. "Give glory to God, " they said. "We know this man is a sinner. He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"

John 9:26-27 Then they asked him, "What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? He answered, "I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?"

What is success in evangelism?

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

2 Corinthians 2:16-17 To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven..

REASONS WHY CHRISTIANS DON T SHARE THEIR FAITH IN JESUS WITH OTHERS 6. Feeling unprepared 7. Feeling as if they have failed 8. A lack of time

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE 1 Peter 3:15 to give the reason for the hope that you have

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE Colossians 4:5-6 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE 1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

III. EVANGELISM IS A DISCIPLINE 1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.
