The Texas Engineering Extension Service has joined with San Juan College and Texas A&M University-Commerce to offer safety professionals an exciting new opportunity to earn a college degree. This unique program allows qualified safety professionals who already hold a TEEX Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO) certificate to earn a college degree while holding down a full-time job. You can receive 18 hours of college credit for your TEEX CSHO certificate and complete your degree requirements online through San Juan College and Texas A&M University-Commerce. Program Benefits 1. 3 Step 1 Earn a TEEX Certified Safety & Health Official certificate. Required TEEX class hours for TEEX CSHO certificate: hours Your TEEX CSHO certificate qualifies you for 18 hours of college credit at San Juan College, Farmington, New Mexico.* About TEEX The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) offers the Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO) program to safety professionals in private industry and government agencies. Since the program was initiated in 1998, more than 1,000 safety professionals have earned the TEEX CSHO certificate with an additional 1,000 working toward completion of the certificate program. The TEEX CSHO is recognized by the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists and can now earn college credit at San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico.* TEEX is one of the largest providers of workforce and emergency response training in the nation. A member of The Texas A&M University System, TEEX provides training, exercises and technical assistance to more than 220,000 people each year from all 50 states and more than 50 countries. Required credit hours for A.A.S. degree: 71 credit hrs which includes TEEX CSHO: 18 credit hrs (maximum) About San Juan College The School of Energy at San Juan College offers courses that support careers in occupational safety, oil and gas, power generation, construction and general workforce industries. Classes are designed for comprehensive industrial training for Lease Operators, Natural Gas Compression, Commercial Driver s License (CDL), Industrial Process Operator, Renewable Energy, Occupational Safety, and Well Control. Within the service region, a major portion of the economy is fueled by power generation, natural gas and oil production, as well as coal mining and oil and gas service. How Do New Students Get Started At San Juan College? 1. Apply Online: 2. Apply for Financial Aid. (The Occupational Safety Degree at SJC is currently seeking FAFSA eligibility for 2009) 3. Complete the Accuplacer placement tests to determine which level of Math, English and Reading classes you will begin with. Transfer students who have already completed college-level Mathematics or English courses are exempt. 4. Request an Official Transcript from your high school and from any colleges where you have taken classes be sent to the SJC Admissions Office. Your high school transcript MUST include your graduation date. Your Official Transcript must arrive at the SJC Admissions office (mailed or hand delivered) in a SEALED envelope. No Financial Aid funds will be released until all transcripts have been received. Transcripts will not be evaluated until all transcripts have been received. * TEEX students must show successful completion of CSHO certificate from TEEX and a copy of their active OSHA Trainer card (if applicable). 5. Pay your Tuition. Please check the online academic calendar for tuition dates and deadlines. Tuition can be paid either online, over the phone ( ), or in person at the SJC Business Office. 6.
