1 SIP Diversity Recruitment Plan Grant ID# Diversity Goal: Increase the gender and ethnic diversity of the nursing student population, nursing faculty, and nursing workforce through targeted awareness, recruitment and mentoring. Strategy Activity/Method Responsible Party Indicator Assist schools of nursing in establishing measures to increase interest in nursing as a career path for 8 th to 12 th graders. Identify pre-entry and/or pipeline programs currently being offered to increase awareness of health profession careers and modify to specifically target African Americans in nursing. Implement pre-entry/pipeline programs in areas of the state not currently offering pre-entry/pipeline programs to specifically target African Americans in nursing. Diversity Committee, Program Directors, Secondary School Representatives/Counselors Program Director or designee, Secondary School Representative/Counselors List of all pre-entry programs will be published. Areas without programs will establish a program For high school students: Establish and maintain close relationships with guidance counselors, science, math, and health teachers Make frequent contact with students and their families that express an interest in nursing Program director or designee.
