2 The Area: Manager of College Information Systems Management Role The Manager will be a member of the College Leadership Team in a period where the College is improving all aspects of its provision and is building management capacity to support its plans for investment, growth and development. This will include, for example, the planned expansion of adult (18-24) and higher education provision. The new Manager will contribute to curriculum planning, advise on new funding methodologies and develop auditable systems that meet the requirements of funding bodies and partners. The Manager will also play a key role in improving management reporting across the College for quality assurance and improvement purposes and in ensuring further integration with other business functions, including Human Resources and Finance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in management information systems to make a significant contribution to future developments. We are seeking a highly competent candidate with the necessary skills, drive and enthusiasm to lead these changes and you will be very well supported in taking the next steps. Where an exceptional candidate is identified the starting salary will be flexible to reflect this depending upon skills and experience. MIS Team The post holder will manage a small, busy and highly effective team that currently includes: Manager MIS Officer Vacant post until recently Data and Information Officer Exams Officer Exams Assistant Following recent changes in the College s management and organisation structure, the team also work closely with new Curriculum Administrators and the Student Services team, including the Admissions Co-ordinator, Administrators and Learning Mentors. The College is continuing to develop underlying systems and procedures for the collection and validation of data, and management reporting that will ensure that Information Services remain central to the effective management of the College.

3 Technical Input This is an area requiring specialist input and experience, including a good knowledge of funding body rules and the ability to operate and develop the following core software and reporting tools: Corero REMS (Provision, Timetabling, Enrolments, ILR/Funding, Attendance and Exams) ProAchieve (SRA performance measures) LIS Suite (Funding assurance) Score (funding and efficiency measures) External web-based software e.g. Awarding Bodies Microsoft Visual Studio (SQL Server Reporting Services) Microsoft Access The MIS team also manages a number of data bridges to other college systems, including: ProMonitor and ProPortal (new) ProObserve (new) Moodel VLE ID card system Library inventory/lender system BKSB

4 Details of Appointment Hours of Work Full time 37 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work flexibly, particularly during peak period. Employment Conditions The college belongs to the Sixth Form Colleges Employers Forum. This post may lie within the agreed support staff framework as appropriate. Salary All appointments will be made on the nationally agreed Sixth Form College pay spine based on qualifications and experience. The salary will be on a fixed point circa 40,000 pa Safeguarding The post involves regular unsupervised contact with young people and will be subject to an enhanced CRB check. 5 Summary Terms & Conditions Your Employer The Corporation of New College, Telford is the employer. The Corporation determines the pay and conditions framework, and pays the salary. This is determined within a framework negotiated nationally by the Sixth Form Colleges Forum (SFCF). Working Day Core College hours are between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am 4pm on a Friday. However due to the nature of the role and the need to arrange and attend internal and external events there will be the need for flexible working at busy periods. Pension Arrangements Post holders are eligible to join the Support Staff Pension Scheme. Information about this scheme and other pension choices will be available upon commencement. Appraisal A college Appraisal Scheme is in operation and all staff will have the opportunity to participate in the scheme. Probation Confirmation of appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a period of 6 month probationary service. Trade Union Membership The Corporation, as the employer, supports a system of collective bargaining. You have a right to belong to a trade union. A copy of the full contract of employment is available on request. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure (CRB) check.
