1 Detailed Conference Agenda & Registration PROGRAM OBJECTIVE To educate healthcare professionals on current research findings and clinical standards of stroke management and treatment. It will also allow the opportunity for general discussion and collaboration regarding state stroke care initiatives, the latest options for anticoagulation treatment, acute stroke treatment, endovascular therapies, transitions in care and building stronger stroke systems of care with EMS as a critical link in providing the stroke patient best treatment options. TARGET AUDIENCE Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants from Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Quality Improvement Departments, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Administrators, Stroke Program Directors, Community Health Education Specialists, Pharmacists and other health professionals throughout New Jersey. 4 GENERAL INFORMATION LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the completion of this program, the learner will be able to: 1. Discuss the current state of stroke, advances in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of cerebrovascular disease. 2. Interpret the rapidly changing areas within the stroke spectrum such as emerging options for the diagnosis and treatment of acute stroke, mechanisms of stroke recovery, and the impact of vascular cognitive impairment. 3. Describe the stroke systems of care and how to improve the quality of care utilizing data. 5 ACCREDITATION INFORMATION Continuing Medical Education Accreditation - Physicians This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the American Heart Association, the NorthEast Cerebrovascular Consortium, and the New Jersey Department of Health. The American Heart Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Heart Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. All persons who develop and/or control educational content in CME activities sponsored by the American Heart Association will disclose to the audience all financial relationships with any commercial supporters of this activity as well as with other commercial interests whose lines of business are related to the CME-certified content of this activity. In addition, presenters will disclose unlabeled/unapproved uses of drugs or devices discussed in their presentations. Such disclosures will be made in writing in course presentation materials. Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Physician Assistants AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 6.25 hours of Category I credit for completing this program. Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Nurse Practitioners American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM from organizations accredited by the ACCME. Continuing Education Accreditation - Nurses The American Heart Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. The maximum number of hours awarded for this CE activity is 6.25 contact hours. **ANCC and ACCME credit must be claimed within 6 months of attendance. CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after October 2, Continuing Education Accreditation Pharmacists The American Heart Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACPE Credit: 6.25 Contact Hours or CEUs. Universal Program Number: L01-P. **ACPE credit must be claimed within 30 days of attendance. CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after May 2, Continuing Education Accreditation Emergency Medical Services This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS), for 6.25 Advanced CEHs, activity number 15-AMHA-F **CECBEMS credit must be claimed within 30 days of attendance. CME/CE credit will no longer be available to claim for this activity after October 2, Steps for Successful Completion To successfully complete this activity, learners must fully participate in the sessions. In addition, learners must provide feedback that will be used for evaluative and outcomes measurement purposes. Learners will check-in onsite for attendance verification purposes and will be required to provide evaluative feedback before CME/CE credit can be claimed. Emergency Medical Technicians The 2015 NJ State Stroke Conference is approved for 7 contact hours for EMT's.
