It may seem overwhelming at first glance, but these multiple virtual encounters with your potential clients can be mastered in two specific ways; 1.) by building out and online business and 2.) having a consistent marketing plan. 4 The majority of all business growth in the marketplace today is happening online. When is the last time you took an honest assessment of your online presence? We like to call this an Online Business Audit. Through this process we will identify the mistake experts make and offer suggestions. The best way to start to conduct an online audit is to review all of your online profiles. Prior to getting started, take a moment and create a word document with your up to date bio, website, video links, descriptions of services, book titles, and any other current information. Also, necessary is a jpg of your logo, your book cover and a current media ready photo. We are going to look in three key areas: 1.) Social presence 2.) Website presence 3. ) presence.

5 SOCIAL MEDIA: The majority of international traffic today is on social media. Mistake number #1 is not having an active Social Media Presence. Your social presence involves your online profiles on social media platforms. These main profiles include social media like Facebook twitter YouTube and LinkedIn. However it can also include Google, Google places, local business listings, Pinterest and Instagram. To start the audit ask yourself the following questions. Inside your social media profiles have you completed the following? Do you have updated photos? A current bio Accurate contact information Mistake # 2 Outdated information in Social Media Take a moment and check to see if your have up-to-date websites, phone numbers and addresses. This is an important part of the public s ability to find you and contact you for services.

6 Mistake # 3 Incomplete Profile All social media platforms provide space for your personal profile. Take the time to write a complete profile about who you are and the type of services you offer. Do not just list your resume; instead think about how you solve others problems with your wisdom. Make your profile solution oriented and include benefit statements. Maximize the number of words allowed in your profile Inside your profile check to make sure there is a clear description of your business and the type of customers who you serve. Mistake # 4 Not posting regularly with quality content Let s look at the quality of your content and the frequency of your posting to social media. Are you frequently adding relevant, content-rich social media posts that educate people? Educational content without a sales offer attached will attract individuals to what you have to offer. There is a rule of thumb: 75% of your content needs to be educational and FREE (blog posts, ebooks, training videos) and 25% can be offers.

7 Social media is a powerful and effective tool to build your community and it is a place to start to attract customers to your on line business. However, its called social media for a reason, to be successful your need to engage people on a social basis and not be aggressive and pushy. Now let s look at your online business presence. This is composed of your website and any additional online web pages used to market your business. Specifically, your web presence includes your website and any additional webpages that are discovered during a Google search of your name or your business. First step is to do a Google search of your name, your keywords, and business name. Where do you show up? Are you on the first page, the third page, can't be found. Mistake #5 Ignoring SEO and Keywords We need to make sure on that behind your website is the proper SEO,

8 meta-tags, and keywords so that you rank higher for your name and your business. Most people will not search for your personal name or a name like starlight sevices. However, they will search for Life Coach Seattle. If you are a life coach in a certain city, make sure you have this identified in your SEO tags behind your website and written in the copy on the first page of the home page of your website. Mistake #6 Inconsistent Online Branding Next, look at your website. Do you like the colors, the logo, the images, branding. Does it accurately represent where you are in your business today and more importantly where you want to go in the future. Often, we have a splintered online presence. Different colors, logos and we have multiple websites and persona. Use the same professional photographer. I have seen people have three different looks all on the same page spanning several years. Also, have the same professional logo and matching colors on all of your content. It s a powerful first impression and remember the first impression with most people make be your ONLY opportunity. Invest in professional branding. Every expert needs to be a recognized brand. Mistake #7 List Building

9 Your website is the most important place to build your community. Are you asking for an address front and center on your home page right above the fold? Above the fold is where someone would need to scroll down to see additional content. This means your offer should be strategically placed font and center. Ask these questions? Right on the homepage, is there a clear call to action and an offer of FREE content in exchange for a visitors address? This strategy is the most important function of your website, and amazingly often overlooked. It's important to understand that offering an subscription or a chapter of a book has proven an ineffective strategy to build your list. Your offer needs to be content-based and to directly address the needs of your ideal client. This can be an e-book or a video training series. Mistake #8 Lack of Engagement Next, do you have easily accessible social media buttons that accurately connect to your social media accounts? Social media is designed to drive traffic back to websites, so we need to make sure that on the website we connect directly to our social media. And inside social media, we need to make sure we direct content back to the website with links and offers. It's

10 this back-and-forth flow of information, which helps you build your online business. Finally on your website is there a blog. And if there is a blog, are you using it on a regular basis. Frequent blog post, a minimum of one per week, is one of the most effective ways to continue to drive traffic to your website. These blog posts can have strong headlines using language like Insider secrets, Four mistakes to avoid, and Key steps to achieve this goal. Focused problem-solving educational blog post are read frequently. Often these blog posts will end up in SEO for many years to come. New blog posts can also be promoted via social media as part of an overall educational content-based strategy. Next, let's audit your presence.

11 Mistake #9 Not ing Frequently to your Customer base We start by asking ourselves the following questions. Am I actively building my list every day with a compelling offer in exchange for an on my website and on a landing page. If the answer to this question is no, you are losing the most valuable strategy to build your online presence. List building is the number one tool to determine your success on the Internet. Research has shown that while social media triggers engagement, the actual sales decision is made inside your sequences where you make offers to a group of individuals who are interested in you and content. Next step, in this audit, am I actively sending s to the community of people who have offered me their address. It is important to communicate with your list frequently and offer content, invitations, and updates. Frequency of at least once a week is recommended to maintaining a list of individuals who are interested in your work. Often times, people collect s, but never use them. Then when it's time to make an offer you have what's called a cold list. A cold list will not purchase your products and services; in fact they often do not even remember who you are. The most negative impact from a cold list is that even though they have at one point giving you their , they may not remember you and report US

12 spam to the provider. This results in your account being shut down. This is not a good start to build out your online business. Mistake #10 Failing to make an offer Many experts spend so much time getting ready to be in business. They are writing books and creating products. However, the key step to making money online is to make an offer. Have you offered for a product or service for sale? Do you have a merchant account to accept online payments? This is critical to the cash flow of your business. If you are making offers but the results are not what you want them to be then its time to test your offer. Ask yourself the question, what is the content inside my s? Do I offer valuable free educational instruction? Or am I bombarding people with his sales copy asking them to enroll in my programs and purchase my stuff without giving any value. The only way to know if your content is working is to look at how it converts and what is your open rate. Inside every program, (and there are several to choose from), there are analytics which show you how frequently your

13 s are read, and of this percentage, how many people act on your offers. If no one is acting on your offers, then your content inside your s probably needs to be updated or rewritten completely.
