2 President s Message Our 2 nd Annual General Meeting was held at the SCS Resource Centre on 11 March We warmly welcome our new EXCO members and sincerely thank those who stepped down after serving in the previous EXCO. We also sincerely thank IDA and SCS for their strong and continuing support, and our business partners who have provided speakers and sponsorship at our events. Our flagship IDA-AISP Information Security Seminar 2010 was held on 22 March. It was well attended with over 300 participants. Our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts graced this event and made several exciting announcements for the Information Security Industry. The follow-on one-day workshop with Dr Eugene Schultz on 23 March was again well-received by the participants who gave very positive feedback. We have launched a new series of seminars named AISP-ITSC Information Security Standards Series. This is collaboration between AISP and ITSC and aims to provide talks on the ISO series of information security standards. The talks aim to raise information security professionals' awareness of standards and provide practical insights on issues and implementation strategies. The talks will be held once every month from April 2010 onwards. AISP will be co-organising with ISC2, SecureAsia@SG 2010, themed Building a Secure Connected Future on July at Suntec Convention Centre. This is the first time ISC2 will be holding such an event in Singapore and AISP is proud to co-organise it with them. See our web-site for more details. Last but not least, we have soft launched the much awaited AISP training course and examination for information security professionals. This project was developed in partnership with the Institute of Systems Science and is targeted at information security professionals who wish to attain a professional qualification to fast-track their ordinary membership to AISP. The course also qualifies for a very generous 90% SPUR Funding to strongly encourage employers to send their staff to the course and examination. Those who pass the examination will be awarded the Qualified Information Security Professionals or QISP qualification. More details will be on our website or the ISS web-site (look under new Courses). As the economy rebounds, the level of participation at our activities is expected to increase; so are our members expectations. After establishing the foundation stones for AISP in the last two years, the new EXCO s mission this year is raise the quality of our programmes and increase AISP s profile in the market. 4 IDA and AISP shines the Information Security Scene again! Following the success of IDA-AISP Information Security Seminar held in 2009, both organisations organized a similar event again this year. Themed as Securing Information, A Shared Responsibility the seminar was held on March 2010 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. With topics ranging about issues such as cloud security, enhancing the security of internet services, the national information infrastructure, data security breaches and endpoint security, it brought together the IT Security professionals to listen, discuss and talk about. Present at the event was Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, Mr. Peter Ho, Head of Civil Service and Chairman, National Infocomm Security Committee and RAdm Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Mr. Gerard Tan, President, Association of Information Security Professionals. The event, attended by nearly 350 IT Security professionals, kicked off with a welcome address by Mr. Gerard Tan, an Opening address by Guest of Honour Mr. Lui Tuck Yew and an Opening Keynote by Mr. Peter Ho. Thereafter, the presentations kicked off with Mr. Jay Chaudhry, whose topic on Cloud Security and how it can be beneficial for companies. Taking the stage thereafter was Mr. Mark Hughes, from BT Security, who talked about what governments can do to increase the security and resilience of their national information infrastructure. 3

This was followed by Mr Ilias Chantzos on security and resilience of national information infrastructure. The series of talks ended with Mr. Baey Chin Cheng, from the United Overseas Bank, talking about the importance of endpoint security as well as the top 10 considerations about being a security consultant. Finally, the event was brought to a close with a panel discussion was held with all the speakers, and moderated by Mr. Lim Swee Cheang, Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore. There was a lively discussion and debate on whether cloud computing was ready given its current state of security, as well as how to convince, customers/users about security implementations and how to make it a shared responsibility. The seminar was continued with a workshop by Dr. Eugene Schultz on Mobile Computing Security, the next day held at Nanyang Polytechnic. The workshop attracted to almost 110 participants attended the full day workshop. 4
