2 Curriculum Objectives and Certification The objective of the CAS Swiss Wealth Management is to address the structural changes within the wealth management industry. Advising clients has become more complex due to stricter international regulations and requires country-specific, up-to-date knowledge of the current legal and taxation environment within the client s country of domicile. With banks having to compete for clients not only on the Swiss financial market but also with banks in the clients home countries, the client advisor s job has become more demanding. Therefore, client advisors need additional knowledge in order to better advise and thus retain their clients. This CAS course evaluates the specific needs of clients domiciled in Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Austria (each country is taught as its own course), as well as providing expert background information and solutions. Participants gain country-specific expertise in the fields of taxation, succession, and financial planning. The strategies they learn will have the added benefit of reducing reputational risk. The course leads to a CAS title, which is internationally recognized and respected by the Swiss wealth management industry. 3 Modular Concept and Topics The course has a modular, flexible structure and consists of a foundation module and several specialized modules. The foundation module provides basic information on such cross border topics as compliance rules and regulations, foundations of taxation law, and succession planning. The foundation module takes 4 days to complete and is conducted by the Swiss Finance Institute / Centro di Studi Bancari. The specialized modules are taught in blocks of and deal with the following topics: Financial Planning, Taxation I & II, Inheritance & Retirement, Risk Management / Insurance / Integration, and Business Opportunities. The specialized modules thus take a total of 9 days to complete. 7 Organizational Details Admission Requirements Participants require a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate (vocational high school diploma/apprenticeship/lehre) or an entrance qualification for universities/universities of applied sciences (Berufsmaturität). The ZHAW reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient number of participants. The general rules and conditions for participating in continuing education programs on the ZHAW School of Management and Law apply. approved foundation course. The Swiss Finance Institute/ Centro di Studi Bancari offer an approved foundation course. Classes are taught on Fridays and Saturdays and take place over a period of 4 6 months. Within this time frame, the participants are free to complete the modules in any particular order over a time period of 2 years. Cost The course fee for the CAS specialized module is CHF 7,500. This includes the administration fee and course materials, as well as meals and refreshments on course days. It must be paid in full prior to the first day of the course. The course fee for the foundation module with the Swiss Finance Institute/Centro di Studi Bancari is CHF 4,330. The package fee for both the foundation and specialized modules is CHF 9,800. Workload The workload for this course consists of classroom work, case studies, group work, and self-study. There will be a written examination at the end of the course. Certification Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) in Cross Border Wealth Management for the specific country. This is worth a total of 12 ECTS credits. Withdrawal The course fee will not be reimbursed if the participant is absent or drops out. Requests for withdrawal from the course must be made in writing and submitted at least 4 weeks before the course begins. A CHF 200 administration fee will be charged in this case. Location The course will be held at a central location in Zurich or Geneva (for the CAS France). Due to a rapidly changing tax environment, a yearly update is necessary in order to maintain certification. Recognition The CAS is a standardized degree created by the Bologna Process and is internationally known and recognized. A CAS fully complies with the strict quality requirements and recommendations of the Rectors Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS) and the Rectors Conference of Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences (KFH).
