Please NOTE the following steps needed to successfully complete the application process: 1. Complete the university application for the Office of Graduate Studies online only at 2. In the process of completing the university application for The Office Graduate Studies, you will need to select your specific education MA program under Enrollment Plans, Major/Program objective. 2 Application Procedures for Master s in Child Development Admission Requirements Admission as a classified graduate student in the Master s in Child Development requires: 1. Child/Human Development BA or a closely related field, Liberal Studies BA, or teaching credential. Some applicants may be admitted with the condition that certain specified foundation courses be completed before beginning the requirements for the CHDV MA program; 2. minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 units completed; 3. experience in programs serving children from infancy through primary grades; 4. well-written, clearly articulated statement of the applicant's educational and professional background and an explanation of how graduate study will advance the applicant's professional goals. University Application Requirements 1. CSU APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL ADMISSION: Applicants not currently attending Sacramento State, Sacramento State graduating seniors, and Sacramento State students completing a master s degree or second bachelor s degree must complete and submit the CSU application for graduate school admission online at: no later than September 15, The $55.00 non-refundable application fee must be paid online at the time the application is submitted. IMPORTANT TIPS When completing enrollment information on the application: Select your Major/Program Objective as o Child Development Under Degree Objective select one of the following: o MA Complete the rest of the online graduate school application. Once you pay the fee and click the submit button, print the page that reads, CSU Sacramento Graduate Application Agreement Statement. Submit this page with your Program Application packet. 2. TRANSCRIPTS needed for CSU Application Non-Sac State students: One (1) set of official transcripts (sealed) from all community colleges, colleges, and universities attended. Submit this set of transcripts directly to the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) no later than September 15, Office of Graduate Studies, CSUS Riverfront Center 215 Sacramento, CA Or, you can deliver official sealed transcripts to the OGS in the River Front Center, room 215. Sac State students: If you graduated/are graduating from Sacramento State, you DO NOT need submit any additional transcripts to OGS unless you attended another college after you graduated. Supplemental Program Application Requirements 1. PERSONAL DATA: Please provide current mailing address, phone numbers and address. If you anticipate moving during the application process; please keep us informed. Call with any address/phone number changes. 2. REFERENCES: Provide a list of names, titles, address, and position of the two persons from whom you are requesting letters of recommendation.

3 3. WRITTEN STATEMENT: Submit a written statement explaining why you wish to be admitted to the CHDV graduate program (i.e., accomplishments, and academic and vocational goals). Discuss the strengths, skills, and experiences that you will bring to the program and any relevant awards and honors. Moreover, list up to three specific areas of child development that you may be interested in exploring further in this program. You are encouraged to review, but are not limited to, the faculty research and teaching interests on the CSUS Child Development website. This statement will be carefully reviewed by the admissions committee (approximately 500 words). 4. TRANSCRIPTS: Provide one set of unofficial transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Unlike your CSU Mentor application, the supplemental application requires you submit transcripts regardless of your university of origin. 5. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Provide two letters of recommendation. Persons writing letters of recommendation should be familiar with your academic work and/or your professional capabilities. Previous and current teachers, instructors, supervisors and employers are all appropriate. Please include the cover sheet with each reference letter, in a sealed envelope. Complete Application Packets The Child Development supplemental application and all materials pertaining to the application should be submitted no later than 4:00pm on THURSDAY - OCTOBER 1, 2015 to: California State University, Sacramento College of Education ATTN: Child Development Program Admission (EUREKA HALL, 401) Post mark date of Ocotober 1, 2015 will be accepted. NOTE: All mailed applications must be complete (no missing items: e.g., official transcripts, letters of recommendations). Incomplete applications will not be considered. Screening Procedures 1. The Office of Graduate Studies will complete the preliminary review and check for completion of minimum university requirements (GPA, residency, baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution). 2. The Supplemental Program application is forwarded to the Child Development Program Coordinator. Applications are screened for completion of all undergraduate preparation and GPA. Files are provided to the Child Development faculty panel for screening. All students will be advised in writing as to whether or not they are admitted to the program. This process is usually completed within 6-8 weeks following the closing date for applications. **Students are occasionally admitted conditionally, which means that there are certain contingencies that must be met before admission with be permanent (i.e., pre-requisites, graduate writing requirement).
