2 Welcome Share the Light Putting the Enterprise into Risk Management and Insurance Education An Enterprise Risk Management Academic Symposium Is ERM the future of risk management? And, if so, how do we teach it? Enterprise Risk Management is one of today s most talked-about concepts in the field of risk management. However, a consensus regarding its definition and application is still elusive and its presentation within academic RMI programs is still fragmented and varied. This symposium brings together college professors, currently studying and/or teaching enterprise risk management, with ERM savvy executives, regulators, rating agency representatives and consultants to begin to develop a conceptual framework for further scholarly research and curricula development. The program has been designed to provide a forum for discussion of the core principles of enterprise risk management, ways of integrating ERM into collegiate RMI curricula, and the teaching resources (texts, cases, etc.) needed to encourage and facilitate the presentation of ERM at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. It is our hope that this symposium will be the first in a series of programs to help define a role for traditional RMI programs in the pursuit of the academic development and presentation of ERM. Thank you for participating.
