1 THE COPENHAGEN ROYAL CHAPEL CHOIR The Royal Chapel Choir is the school s original choir, and continues a century-long tradition of choral music for boys and men s voices. The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir has gained international repute and has been awarded many distinctions. The choir is obligatory for all boys from grade 5 and until their voices break. THE COPENHAGEN ROYAL CHAPEL CHOIR was founded in 1924 and is under the patronage of HRH Prince Henrik, The Prince Consort collaborates with professional ensembles and symphony orchestras is resident choir of Copenhagen Cathedral, The Church of Our Lady undertakes extensive concert and concert-tour activities in and outside Denmark boasts a comprehensive CD-production

2 THE COPENHAGEN GIRLS CHOIR The Copenhagen Girls Choir plays a prominent part in Danish choral life. The choir s repertoire includes newly-composed, neo-classical and rhythmic music. The youngest section of the choir is renowned partly for its fine St. Lucia processions, while the more senior girls make up the concert choir per se. The Girls Choir is obligatory for all girls from grades 6 to 9. THE COPENHAGEN GIRLS CHOIR was founded in 1973 and is under the patronage of HRH Princess Benedikte collaborates with professional musicians and other choirs and ensembles is resident choir of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Copenhagen undertakes extensive concert and concert-tour activities in and outside Denmark boasts a comprehensive CD-production THE SANKT ANNÆ YOUTH CHOIR Is the mixed youth choir of The Sankt Annae Gymnasium, in which all the students of the gymnasium are offered the opportunity of singing. Many of the close to 200 choristers have previously been members of the Royal Chapel Choir or the Girls Choir. THE SANKT ANNAE YOUTH CHOIR was founded in 1966 sings both classical and rhythmic music collaborates with various symphony orchestras also comprises a chamber choir undertakes extensive concert and concert-tour activities in and outside Denmark records CDs on a regular basis

Sankt Annæ is the home of: The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir The Copenhagen Girls Choir The Sankt Annæ Youth Choir Sankt Annæ Gymnasium is a municipal choir school with not only primary and lower secondary units (the Folkeskole) but also an upper secondary unit (the Gymnasium), the equivalent of the American High School or the British Sixth Form College. The aim of the school is to create well-educated and well-trained young people with artistic talent who take pleasure in their work, who share a sense of quality, and who have equal respect for their own worth and that of others.

5 THE FOLKESKOLE begins at grade 3 (age approx. 9) finishes with the Folkeskole Leaving Examinations has approx. 580 students has a special introductory course gives priority to a sense of security and responsibility works in close collaboration with the students parents JUNIOR STUDENT AND SINGING TALENT At the Admission Test for the Folkeskole it is talent, which counts singing talent and nothing else. Besides the normal school curriculum, there are 4 8 vocal and aural training lessons and choral singing lessons on the students weekly timetable. School subjects, singing, close studying and creative teamwork complement and enhance each other throughout the students entire school career.

All senior students are actively involved in singing or music, and students at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium have a unique opportunity of qualifying both academically and in the creative musical arts.
