2 Professional Society Memberships IEEE FIPA member correspondant of the European Network of excellence AgentLink 2 Research Multi-Agent Systems constitute a promising paradigm for analysis and design of complex software systems. They are defined as societies composed of autonomous entities called agents which interact in order to solve problems or realise tasks. Or researches are concerned with the engineering of MAS. In order to be fully deployed a software engineering paradigm needs fitted models and abstractions. These abstractions are used for the analysis and design of MAS. Any MAS methodology should take these abstractions into account for developing MAS in a sure, systematic and repeatable manner. The concepts we have chosen are based upon organisational theories. These organisational concepts enable the description of MAS as societies of individuals playing roles in organisations. These concepts also allow the description of complex organisational structure such as holonic systems which are composed of self-similar entities, called holons, that may be composed of other holons. qui permettent de concevoir les SMA comme des sociétés d individus, les agents, qui jouent des rôles dans des organisations. We have defined these concepts through meta-models depicted with a semi-formal notation. In addition to this graphical notation we have defined a multi-formalisms language, named OZS, based on the integration of Object-Z and statecharts. With this formal notation we have formally defined the semantics of the semi-formal organisational concepts. Moreover, OZS allows us to use validation and verification techniques. We have studied several agents architectures and analysed them using the organisational concepts in order to indentify Organisation De- 2
3 sign Patterns and study properties of these architectures. This approach is a kind of reverse-engineering. We are also investigating methodologies for MAS and Holonic MAS. The applications we are interested in are simulation and knowledge management. Projects Daedalus system This project consisted in the realisation of a MAS dedicated to the animation of virtual characters in a theater play with several representations during the years and Robotec Coordinator of the robotec project dedicated to mobile robotics and robot-soccers in the FIRA competitions. Participation to the world cup in 2002 and to the european cup in Trace Project funded by UTBM and UTT in collaboration with the Tech-Cico team of UTT. The goal of the project is to investigate annotations of project memories for knowledge capitalization. CodeKf Project funded by the «pole de compétitivité»véhicule du futur. It aims at investigation and development of tools for knowledge management in the automotive industry. Supervision of PhD Students D.
