1 Community Resource Guide A Guide to Asbury Park Social Service Agencies and Organizations Mercy Center Hope~Help~Healing Family Resource Center

2 DISCLAIMER This Community Resource Guide is a compilation of services, resources, information and facilities that may be useful to various service providers and residents of Asbury Park, NJ. The accuracy of all information pertaining to services and facilities is solely the responsibility of the listed organizations. The Community Resource Guide makes no claim with regard to qualifications of the staff of the listed organizations or the quality of their services. The guide is by no means complete, and no priority of referral is intended for use of services from listed agencies or organizations over other sources that may be available. The services and information provided by some of the listed organizations may have changed since the research period for this guide. We thank you for your understanding. Note: Questions, up-dated listings, or new listings should be directed to the director of the Mercy Center s Family Resource Center: (phone) or (fax).www.mercycenternj.org

3 PREFACE The Mercy Center s Family Resource Center is pleased to present the third edition of our Community Resource Guide for Asbury Park, NJ, and surrounding areas. The Resource Guide provides emphasis on state, Monmouth County and local social service agencies. Numerous essential, private non-profit services and organizations are also listed. One of our unique objectives is to highlight the significant support programs provided by the local faith community, fraternities, sororities and other professional organizations. We have also listed a few for-profit organizations that provide support to residents and supplement other social service sponsored programs. We feel this guide will facilitate the flow of needed services to residents and enhance the collaboration and referral process between service providers. In the preparation of this directory, we deeply appreciate the exceptional support received from the Department of Social Services and Community Relations, Director, of Asbury Park and all service provider organizations that submitted program information to be listed. Special thanks go to the Monmouth County United Way and its Director. The office generously shared its experiences and the knowledge gained in their preparation of the renowned Monmouth County Red Book Directory of Social Service Providers. Some of our listings were extracted from the Red Book. Finally, our Resource Guide would not be a reality without the generous financial support received from The Pascale Sykes Foundation, Sea Bright, NJ, Asbury Park Community Collaborative, Asbury Park, NJ, the City of Asbury Park and the New Jersey Department of Children and Families. We extend warmest thanks to all our many supporters. We hope this Guide will be beneficial to the residents of Asbury Park. Sister Carol Ann Henry Executive Director, Mercy Center Veronica A. Gilbert-Tyson Director, Family Resource Center
