2 NJ Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY 2015 New Jersey Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers is a state chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, an international non-profit organization founded to foster research, facilitate information exchange, further professional education and provide for the advancement of professional standards and practices in the field of sex offender evaluation and treatment. ATSA is strongly committed to: The elimination of sexual victimization The protection of our communities through responsible and ethical treatment of sex offenders and their victims The prevention of sexual assault through effective management of sex offenders The maintenance of high standards of professionalism and integrity within its membership The promotion and support of empirical research The incorporation of research findings into effective evaluation and treatment strategies The promotion of education to advance knowledge and awareness in the field of sexual abuse As a state chapter of ATSA, NJ ATSA supports these goals and opens its membership to professionals who work in some capacity with sexual abusers. Membership in NJ ATSA requires membership in national ATSA. The standards for clinical membership require a minimum of a Masters degree in the behavioral sciences with at least 2000 hours of research and/or assessment or treatment of sexual abusers. Affiliate members may have a Masters degree and fewer than 2000 hours, or a Bachelors degree with more than 2000 hours in research, assessment and/or treatment of sexual abusers. Associate members are those who work in related areas such as treatment of sexually abused children or in a non-clinical capacity in mental health or the criminal justice system.
