2 Service A Service loads when a machine is started and runs even if the computer is logged off (but still running). It doesn t require a user to login to the program to start the application. A Service has the same restrictions like users have in terms of security. That is determined by what user you assign to the service. This Service talks to SQL as that user. For the Servicee to run to perform the backup, select the authentication settingss to allow access to the databases being backed up. Service login as : Local System Select to provide full system and administration rights on the local machine. Network Service Select for general network authentication. Username/Password Select to provide a specific user access to SQL Server. Service Username: Password: Start Service

3 Server Ideally, this backup program will be installed on the server where VCK SQL is installed. However, if it is on another server within your network, then here is where you select the server with the databasess that you wish to backup. Also, select if the authentication type. If using SQL authentication, you will need the VCK usernamee and password. SQL Server Name: Select the location of the SQL server. *(local) will be selected if it the same server where this backup program is installed. Other SQL server: Authentication Type: Windows SQL Username: Password: Select databases: Select the databases you wish to backup with this program.

4 Notifications notifications willl be sent anytime a failed backup occurs. If selected, ASI will also receive the failed backup notification s. notifications are not sent for successful backups unless selected here. Addresses for notifications: Enter the addresses that will receive an if the backup has failed (or succeeded, if selected). Enter multiple addresses byy separating them with commas, semicolons, or spaces. SMTP server: Enter the mail serverr name to be used for sending s. Port: Enter the port used to send s. SMTP username: If using authentication when sending s, enter the username. SMTP password: If using authentication when sending s, enter the password. on successful backup? 5 Backup Backup of your SQL databases can occur on the schedule thatt you decide, and also, at the time of day that you decided. SQL Server definition back up location: Select the directory where SQL server saves its backup by default. If this is left blank, it will attempt to save to the finall backup location directly. Final backup location: here. Scheduled: Enter the path where the backup file will be saved.. All backups will be saved Daily Select this option to backup the selected databases each day of the week. Also, enter the time of day to start the backup process. Weekly Select this option to backup the selected databases once per week. Select which day of the week and thee time of day to start the backup process. Monthly Select this option to backup the selected databases once per month. Select the date each month and the time of day to start the backup process. Backup expiration period: Enter the length of time that eachh backup file will be kept. deleted after the length of time selected here. The file will be Backup timeout: This is the length of time in which the backup for each database should be completed. If the backup of a database isn t completed within this time, the process will be aborted. Submit Job Backup Now

6 Restoree When restoring a backup, it is unzipped to a.bak file, then it overwrites to the actual live SQL database. *If you simply want to review the backup, you should locate and open it through Windows Explorer.
