1 General part Assembly operating manual for Ottofond whirlpool systems Ottofond whirlpools are manufactured in Germany. The systems are arranged according to company standards or customer s wish. All components have the highest manufacturing quality and are inspected by the technical control board/ce. Every whirlpool tub is inspected for function and safety under real conditions prior to delivery. All whirlpools are assembled ready for connection. All systems include residual water draining which reduces the formation of germs. Please note: Water temperature should not exceed 40 C. The most pleasant temperature is between C. To allow the body to get used to the very invigorating massage effect, we recommend keeping massage times short initially and to increase the times only gradually. Systems with dry run protector (Future, type 1, type 2 only upon order, all other systems in general), will switch automatically off after 20 minutes, and can be restarted individually. Warranty / claims for defects Claims for defects from the manufacturer only cover damage that can be attributed to factory faults. Incorrect bath water treatment (bath additives, bath oils, unsuitable disinfectants, abrasive or granular cleaning agents, etc.) will void any claims for correction of faults. No agents containing solids (e.g. mudbaths) may be used. Special bath additives for whirlpools are commercially available. We especially point out that the whirlpool tub may not be used to dispose of pet litter (e.g. bird sand, cat litter), and not to soak laundry (fluffs). Also, small toys may not be used in the tub as they may lead to complete destruction of the whirlpool pump. It must also be ensured that the suction strainers (floor or side suctions strainer) inside the tub may not be covered or plugged up with foreign substances (e.g. washcloths, sponges), as this may also result in total destruction of the pump or fan. Scouring cleansers may not be used to clean the tub. If the water stays in the tub for longer periods of time, the PH value may not exceed 8.5 as otherwise visible parts (e.g. nozzle shields) may be damaged. Underwater lamps may not be operated when the tub is dry but only when it is filled as the lamps may otherwise get too hot. (Exception: lamps of the light therapy system). If a dry run protector is installed (see above in the general part), then its function must be inspected prior to each commissioning (the whirlpool cannot be started without water). The factory installation guidelines as well as valid VDE and DVGW regulations must be observed. The factory obligation to correct defects does not include damage caused by transportation, accidents, misappropriation, negligent damaging or assembly faults. Customer service assignments that are not due to factory obligations to correct defects, will be invoiced to the client at the usual terms. Important: All works on the whirlpool, such as assembly, water installation and electrical connections must be carried out by an authorised specialised company.any unauthorised changes to the technology will void the claim under guarantee.

2 Water installation The whirlpool may be connected only by an officially authorised specialised company. The installation guidelines of local authorities/communities as well DIN 1988 regulations are to be observed. With tubs with water filling via the spillway of the drain set, a flexible pressure hose (Ottofond item no ) must be provided for the water connection. (Caution: no rigid connection between whirlpool and water line risk of breakage!) With tub filling via the spillover and with a connection of a clean jet rinsing line, connections must be carried out according to DVGW without fail (e.g. backflow preventers must be installed). The connection of the solenoid valve (clean jet) requires a separate cold water connection. Electrical installation The whirlpool may be connected only by an officially authorised specialised company. The installation guidelines of the local power supply companies as well as the DIN and VDE 0100 regulations part 701 are to be observed. The whirlpool system must be connected with an all-pole mains circuit breaker 16 A with at least 3 mm contact opening width. The system is provided with all required current connections by the factory. The mains cable must have a min. Ø of 3 x 1.5 mm²/230 V. All cables that lead to the control system must be dimensioned so that all electrical parts can be removed without problems for possible repairs. With works on the system, the whirlpool system must be switched voltage-free! Assembly of the whirlpool/casing/walling off The whirlpool may be operated only in stationary and installed condition. Lay the wastewater connection (Ø 50 mm) to the drain of the tub. Set up/align the tub horizontally with the help of the height-adjustable tilt feet and the firmly tighten the locknuts of the adjusting screws. On the wall, the tub should be braced/attached with the wall fastening (Ottofond item no ). During assembly and connection of the tub, ensure that the drain and spillover set are not twisted and that their position remains unchanged (leakiness). The tub is filled like any regular bathtub with the tub s mixer tap or the integrated water inlet. CAUTION: Testing the tightness and the function prior to final casing is mandatory! Fill the tub with water to do this (incl. the spillover) and then leave filled for at least one hour to check the tightness, so leaks caused by transportation/handling can be detected. Finally, all functions of the respective whirlpool system must be checked with a trial run (make sure the tub contains enough water > see general operating instructions) The free-standing parts of the whirlpool tub are now cased either through walling in, with an acrylic plate or with Ottofond whirlpool plate system which can be tiled and removed. When walling in the tub, ensure that no part of the technical components and the drain set are touched or walled in. If the whirlpool is walled in and not covered with a removable plate, then depending on the system inspection openings with an approx. size of 400 x 400 mm and a ventilation grid are mandatory in the area of pump, control system, fan and drain set. (See Ottofond products: ALPRO inspection openings) With customer services, costs for tiling works will not be assumed with lacking inspection openings and the client has to make the opening.

3 Disinfection of the whirlpool system All whirlpool systems (except types 5 and 6) must be disinfected! It is mandatory to clean the whirlpool system every 4-6 weeks with a disinfectant suitable for whirlpools to prevent the formation of germs. Even an existing clean jet rinse line (part of the system) does not release customers from disinfection. Disinfection options Manual: Automatic: application according to the directions of the disinfectant manufacturer via disinfection system (already included with type 8, or part of the system), application according to the directions of the disinfectant manufacturer. The whirlpool tub must be rinsed with sufficient fresh water after disinfection with both disinfection modes. Either by filling the tub and operating the whirlpool or by rinsing with the installed clean jet rinse line. (Ottofond whirlpool disinfectant 1000 ml ready for use, item no ) General care instructions The shields of the jet/micro jet nozzles should be screwed off counter clockwise regularly to remove rough dirt (e.g. hair). With systems with floor inlet (information from Ottofond), the cover of the floor inlet must be taken out regularly to remove dirt in the inlet strainer. Bath salts should generally be omitted (incompletely dissolved > caking). Please use a sponge or soft cloth for normal, daily cleaning and wipe the tub after bathing. Aggressive solvent-containing substances (e.g. superglue), burning cigarettes or open flames may not touch the surface. Never use caustic, aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents (well suited are e.g. cleanings agents specially suited for acrylic tubs). Stubborn stains on the acrylic surface (e.g. lime) can be removed with suitable acrylic care products. (Ottofond-acrylic polish item no ; Ottofond-acrylic care set item no ) General operating instructions With whirlpool systems with floor inlet, the cover of the inlet may not be covered/stepped on. Please ensure with water systems that the water level in the tub is at least approx. 50 mm above the highest jet nozzle before the whirlpool is switched on. Please ensure with pure air systems that the water level in the tub is at least approx. 200 mm below the top edge of the tub before the whirlpool is switched on. Small children should not bathe in the operational whirlpool unattended. With an insufficient water level, the installed dry run protector will prevent commissioning of the whirlpool (the dry run protector is part of the accessories in the whirlpool systems Future, 1 and 2, and generally installed in all other systems).

4 Ottofond bath additives Relaxation through aromatherapy bath additives - (specially suited for whirlpools: little foam, no sediments in the whirlpool system) Scents are like music to our senses scents are like ambassadors of our memory. They have a large influence on the way we interpret and experience things and how we remember them. Ottofond aroma products are composed of natural (non-artificial) essential oils and herbal extracts.they ensure a pleasant and refreshing scent in whirlpools and bathtubs. The high concentration of aromas makes the products economical for use. Bathing salts from the Dead Sea Dead Sea salts contains numerous minerals and trace elements and have the highest magnesium and potassium content of all salt water deposits in the world. The body can absorb these substances through the pores resulting in noticeable smooth and pleasantly supple skin. Effect: Specially developed for the use in whirlpools and massage baths, this salt has a purging, draining and soothing effect. Potassium tightens tissues and magnesium strengthens the muscles. Especially soothing for skin problems like psoriasis and eczemas. Application: Dissolve accordingly dosed quantities of Relaxan Dead Sea Bath Salt in the tub. Only for external application. Also suited for body peelings. The following scents are available: Eucalyptus (facilitates breathing), orchid (sensuous), lavender (relaxing), rosemary (invigorating). Contents: 1000 g Bathing scent The bathing scent indulges your senses and works on your body and mind. It consists of carefully selected herbs and essential oils. It is very well suited for aromatherapy treatments. Application/dosage: 25 ml per application, the recommended water temperature for the use of the bathing scent is 36 C. 7 Operation of additional components of all systems depending on the features The following describes exclusively additional button symbols of possible additional components. The button symbols of the basic components of the respective system are described in the main operating instructions of the respective system. 8 Champagne nozzles Operation 2-way valve The 2-way valve controls the water flow in the WP system. Depending on the tub type, the water flow to the floor nozzles or to the side nozzles is controlled by rotating to the right or the left (with increasing intensity up to the respective position stop) (middle setting: water flow from the floor nozzles from the side nozzles). The 2-way valve does not control the function of the fan. The combination of air (fan on) and water from the floor nozzles provides the ideal whirling effect". Clean-jet rinse line and final drying Clean-jet rinse With activated function, the water conducting lines of the system will be rinsed with fresh water for 2 minutes approx. 10 minutes after the tub fill sensor (part of the system) measures no more bath water (after emptying the tub). Final drying With activated function, the fan is switched on for approx. 3 minutes about 20 minutes after the water fill sensor (part of the system) measures no more bath water (after emptying the tub). The fan air dries the air line system. The fan is controlled automatically and will switch off by itself. Automatic clean-jet rinse and final drying Is switched functional automatically with every use of the tub. If a certain water level is reached when filling the tub, the clean-jet function (final rinsing with fresh water) and final drying are activated after 30 seconds. This mode remains and is independent of the subsequent time of use. Manual clean-jet rinse and final drying Is started with the push button. The button must be pressed until the blinking display (LED) switches to permanent light (protection against incorrect operation child safety lock). This selected mode remains and is independent of the subsequent time of use. One-time short actuation of the button cancels the functions. This can be carried out only with an empty tub.
