6 PAGE SIX SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT Youth Ministry/LIFE TEEN LIFE Nights are meetings that immediately follow the Youth Mass on Sunday evening from 7:00-8:45 PM and take place in the parish hall and are an integral part of a comprehensive youth ministry experience. Teens in preparation for confirmation are expected to attend all nights. Focus for Life Nights include: Prayer & Worship, Community Building (Social), and Pastoral Care/Issue Nights. Our Confirmation preparation sessions are more weighted on the catechetical component of youth ministry, but many components overlap the various meetings. Semester Schedule The Nights for the remainder of the year all follow a theme. The theme of this semester is: Vocation. Often when teenagers and adults hear vocations, they think, All they are going to talk about is becoming a priest. Yes, priesthood is one particular vocation, but we are taking an approach to the semester in a much broader sense. The dates, titles and topics for the entire semester are: March 16: For Better or Worse The Vocation of Marriage March 30: A House Divided Divorce April 13: True Life The Vocations of Holy Orders and Religious Life May 4: XLT Music, Praise & Worship, Talk, Adoration May 18: Bound Together Discernment and Community May 25: Linus Got Talent Annual Talent Show Rite of Confirmation Bishop Sartoris will be joining us on Wednesday, May 7 to celebrate the Rite of Confirmation. Candidates & sponsors are asked to attend the rehearsal that will start promptly at 3 PM in the Church on Sunday, May 4. A MASS WITH A HEALING SERVICE DATE: Monday, March 17, 2014 PLACE: ST. The Spirit comes to conform us to the very life of God, to make us like him, so that we can live forever in the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him (1 Jn4:16). Come and feel the presence of the living Lord that renews our heart to know God s love and to live a holy life, with God s goodness and grace. 7 SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA PAGE SEVEN DID YOU KNOW? Parents and teachers can prevent abusive behaviors Children, in particular, may have difficulty channeling their feelings appropriately and can easily pick up negative or demeaning cues given by adults around them. Given the diversity of America s schools, some students may become targets of hostility and blame. Bullying and harassment are never acceptable, but they can be especially damaging at this critical time in our nation s history. Parents and school personnel need to be prepared to quickly and effectively prevent and stop abusive behaviors that are directed toward any students. La burla hostil (bullying) y acoso nunca son aceptables, pero pueden ser especialmente dañinas en este tiempo crítico de la historia de nuestra nación.
