Shawnee County conducts approximately one to two judicial tax foreclosure auctions per year. You or a representative must attend the auction in order to bid. Shawnee County has a minimum bid on each property with the property(s) being sold to the highest and best bidder with cash or check in hand the day of the sale. Should you be a successful bidder, full payment is required immediately after the auction, including the recording fee for your Sheriff s Deed, which you will receive approximately two to three months after the sale date. The right to redeem ends the day before the sale at 4:30 p.m. when the Shawnee County Treasurer s Office closes for the day. However, there is a twelve-month period after the date of confirmation of the sale in which an owner/party of interest may challenge the sale of their property(s) if they feel they did not receive proper notification of the sale. Should this occur and Shawnee County is ordered to return the property, the purchaser will be refunded the purchase price ONLY plus the statutory interest rate.
