All bidders must be registered in order to bid at the sale. You may register in person at the Office of the Shawnee County Counselor, Shawnee County Courthouse, 200 SE 7th Street, Suite 100, Topeka, Kansas. No registrations will be accepted by mail or by telephone. Registration deadline is 4:30 P.M. on April 6, The County reserves the right to refuse bids from anyone registering after this date. Late registrations will be accepted. If you have delinquent taxes, you will not be allowed to bid at the sale. Pursuant to K.S.A , no person shall be eligible to purchase real estate at any delinquent tax sale... if such person is the record owner of real estate upon which there are delinquent taxes of a general ad valorem tax nature or delinquent special assessments in existence as reflected by the records of the county treasurer. Personal checks will be accepted. Shawnee County conducts approximately one to two judicial tax foreclosure auctions per year. Our next auction is scheduled for April 13, The list of property(s) is available on our web site at You must pre-register at the above address in order to bid at the auction; there is no fee for this. You or a representative must attend the auction in order to bid. Shawnee County has a minimum bid on each property with the property(s) being sold to the highest and best bidder with cash or check in hand the day of the sale. Should you be a successful bidder, full payment is required immediately after the auction, including the recording fee for your Sheriff s Deed, which you will receive approximately two to three months after the sale date. The right to redeem ends the day before the sale at 4:30 p.m. when the Shawnee County Treasurer s Office closes for the day. However, there is a twelve-month period after the date of confirmation of the sale in which an owner/party of interest may challenge the sale of their property(s) if they feel they did not receive proper notification of the sale. Should this occur and Shawnee County is ordered to return the property, the purchaser will be refunded the purchase price ONLY plus the statutory interest rate. Any property(s) that do not sell at the judicial tax foreclosure auction will be deeded to Shawnee County, Kansas.
