4 Meet the Professionals JAMES ROONEY Senior Vice President-Wealth Management Portfolio Manager ROBERT BLOMBERG, CHFC Second Vice President-Wealth Management Financial Planning Specialist James has over 20 years experience managing equity and balanced accounts for individuals, corporations and nonprofit organizations. Currently James holds the title of Portfolio Manager (PM) at Smith Barney. Only a select group of Financial Advisors earn this privilege. The PM Group sm was founded in 1979 to provide individual investors with a level of personalized portfolio management typically reserved for major institutions. Portfolio managers are a select group of Financial Advisors who are qualified to independently manage client assets based on training, experience and commitment to service. Before joining Smith Barney, James was a Senior Portfolio Manager at PaineWebber. Prior to working at PW, he was a Financial Consultant at Merrill Lynch in NY. James holds a BA in Business Admin. & Marketing from the New York Institute of Technology. James holds a NASD Series 7, 63, 65, and 66 Licenses. He also holds his Life and Health Insurance Licenses. James, his wife, and 4 sons reside in Simsbury, CT. He is active in his church, coaches youth sports and enjoys golf. Bob has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry working for the Travelers Life & Annuity Co., a member of Citigroup. Before joining Smith Barney in 2000, Bob was a member of the Senior Management Team of the Travelers Long- Term Health Care Division. While at Travelers, Bob attained the Chartered Financial Consultant designation. The ChFC program includes advanced coverage of estate, retirement, and financial planning applications, catering to the needs of both individuals and small business owners. Bob is also the Smith Barney West Hartford Branch Insurance Coordinator. Bob has been a Chartered Financial ConsultantTM since 1991 and holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Bob holds a NASD Series 7, 63, 65, and 66 Licenses. He also holds his Life and Health Insurance Licenses. Bob is married, has three children and resides in Simsbury. 5 GEOFFREY SWANSON Financial Planning Analyst CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM LELA SUBASIC Registered Associate Financial Planning Associate Geoff joined Smith Barney in While at Smith Barney, Geoff attained the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER. This designation is awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP certification process that includes a series of demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements. This program of training and education which is instituted by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. concludes with a challenging exam covering a wide range of topics, including retirement planning, insurance planning, employee benefits planning, income and estate tax planning, and investment planning. Geoff holds a NASD Series 7, 63, 65, and 66 Licenses. He also holds his Life and Health Insurance Licenses. Prior to joining Smith Barney, Geoff earned a BS in Finance with a minor in Economics from Grove City College. Geoff, his wife, and two children reside in Simsbury. He is active in is local church, volunteers mentoring local high school students and enjoys fly-fishing. Lela joined Smith Barney in 2004, after graduating from American University with a bachelor s degree in Finance. While at Smith Barney, she has earned the designation of Financial Planning Associate. This designation is awarded to those who successfully complete Smith Barney s advanced financial planning training program. The training program covers a wide range of topics including Retirement Planning, Education Planning, Income and Estate Tax Planning, Asset Allocation and Net Worth Analysis. Lela also holds a NASD Series 7, 63 and 65 Licenses. Lela lives in Canton and currently volunteers with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.
