I was his University of Maryland University College MBA program professor of economics and financial management. Based on my observations of his analytical skills, motivation, teamwork, cognitive skills, and course work, Mr. Ahari is in the top 1% of his class. It is my pleasure to commend him to you. I have had the privilege of teaching at some of the country's leading institutions, including Stanford University, Babson College, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Ohio State University. In my opinion, the University of Maryland offers one of the most comprehensive and outstanding MBA programs anywhere. I am quite familiar with the Harvard MBA program as a guest lecturer there. In my 12 years as a business school professor, I consider the University of Maryland MBA program to be very rigorous and demanding. By any standard Mr. Ahari did a truly excellent job in the course. Moreover, Mr. Ahari demonstrated the type of leadership qualities and flexibility that is rare and exceptional. During team assignments, he showed the ability to effectively communicate with others in a professional manner, and quickly identify individual skills and strengths to accomplish each project. His collaboration and leadership skills are exceptional. Particularly impressive was the fact that all work submitted exceeded graduate standards. I have no doubt he would excel at the same level of performance in the event he were to pursue a Ph.D. degree. Of the hundreds of students I have taught in the University of Maryland University College MBA program, he is in the top 1%. This was true not only in terms of academic performance, but more importantly, in my opinion, in terms of his leadership abilities, his range of communication styles, his level of motivation and his problem solving competencies. I have been a corporate consultant in HR to many of the largest corporations and Mr. Ahari is just the kind of colleague that I would want and expect to work with on a consulting project. I was especially impressed by his ability to manage and motivate the very wide variety of classmates within the assigned group exercises that were an essential part of our MBA program. He demonstrated the ability to relate to everyone in a professional manner, while to quickly determine how best to work with each so as to make the group successful. I believe that this ability to find just the right style with which to relate to such a wide range of individuals is a rare gift that bodes very well for his leadership potential. I believe this ability to be both more rare and more valuable in the business world than the high level of academic ability that he also demonstrated, but which are also found in more MBA students generally. Mr. Ahari was my student in AMBA 606, Organizations and the External Environment in the fall term of The course is fast paced and demanding, it requires students to transition from a local and individual perspective to one that is global and team-based. This is not easy to do, but Mr. Ahari undertook the challenge in his stride. Rather than chaffing at new demands, he repositioned himself in an approach to the class material that demonstrated his willingness to extend his conceptual and relational reach. He took on a new leadership role, assisting his peers to adapt to the broader international environment in a spirit of teamwork. His decision making was quick, deliberate and generous as he worked from both ends of the course, from front to back, and from back to front. I work in global environment. It is always exciting for me to see others adapt to the global environment. In Mr. Ahari s case, he committed himself to the global mindset - - understanding it and applying it within the framework of the class, and also by bringing related materials to his assignments and class discussions. He went out of his way to find methods to maintain good communication with me and the class throughout the term. I found he was more committed to understanding the concepts and doing good work than to getting an A -- which, of course he did! I always tell my students, keep your focus on the work and the grade will take care of itself. 5 August 30,2004 Kameran Ahari was a student of mine in the University of Maryland University College online MBA program during the summer of Mr. Ahari was an excellent student. He demonstrated a wide range of intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, and excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities. More importantly, in terms of future employment, Mr. Ahari demonstrated the personal qualities that one wants in an employee. He demonstrated initiative, responsibility, timeliness, and attention to detail. As you probably know, online educational programs require much more from students than traditional classroom programs. The MBA program at UMUC is particularly demanding. Our students must be self-starters. They are required to do a great deal of independent research. They need to juggle priorities and become masters of time management. They learn how to interact with others in team projects where all members of the team are remote. 6 October 20, 2004 I am very pleased to write this reference letter for Mr. Kameran Ahari, a graduate student in University of Maryland University College pursuing a degree in MBA. I had the privilege to have Mr. Ahari as a student in Technology and Operations Management, the course I taught in The MBA program at UMUC is designed for working professionals and as such we encourage students to interact with other students in an online classroom environment by sharing each others intellectual capitals through many conference activities, discussion sessions, and team activities. I observed Mr. Ahari always to take lead in many of the contemporary discussions on program management, operations management, technology areas, and information systems management, the core theme of the course. Kamaren has clearly demonstrated to me his ability to organize, lead, and bring forward many original ideas backed by hypothesis and fact. He was always prepared and submitted his assignments on time and I found them to be of superior quality. I will not hesitate to rank him in top 5% of the class. Mr. Ahari showed leadership in many of the team activities which required to produce scholarly papers in a highly compressed timeline.
