Also offers various programs for treatment of chemical dependency. Ivy House is a community residence for men suffering from substance abuse and alcohol problems.

Also offers programs for heart disease prevention, support groups for stroke and heart patients, school and work-site programs, advocacy and volunteer and minority health programs. Assigned Counsel Program, Erie County Bar Association 170 Franklin Street, Suite This program is intended to provide high-quality legal representation to financiallyeligible persons in the County of Erie who are entitled by law to counsel, thereby protecting society s interest in the fair administration of justice. The Program represents those who are unable to afford a lawyer in criminal, Family Court, parole-related, and appellate cases. Also known as the Aid to Indigent Prisoners Society, Inc.

This includes developmental disabilities, crisis pregnancies and youth with emotional, behavioral, psychiatric & familial problems. Dental clinic available. Bar Association of Erie County - Lawyer Referral 438 Main Street, 6 th floor Provides call-in service for lawyer referral and information. Beacon Center (Buffalo) 295 Main Street, Suite 105 Buffalo, New York Offers treatment programs for individuals experiencing alcohol and drug problems. Programs include adolescent program focused on dealing with peer pressure and improving self-esteem. Early recovery programs, relapse prevention programs and continued recovery programs also offered. The Magdalene Program addresses vocational and educational issues to obtain legal employment as an alternative to prostitution. Employment & pre-employment toxicology screenings offered. Judicial assessment and monitoring program provides judges and attorneys with treatment alternatives to incarceration for individuals who would benefit from outpatient therapy.

Provides a supportive environment to enable change to take place in an individual s life; prison ministry. Bry-Lin Hospitals, Inc Delaware Avenue A private, fully-licensed hospital specializing in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry and addiction problems. Most insurance plans accepted. Buffalo and Erie County Public Library 1 Lafayette Square Buffalo, New York Provides general employment and educational material, college entrance information, public access computers, educational videos and audio materials on job-hunting and selfimprovement. Computer training lab also available.

Youth programs are also available. Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers 97 Lemon Street Buffalo, NY Attorney-referred service that assists defense counsel in the preparation of sentencing reports for their clients. Prepares the following reports: alternatives to incarceration for probation-eligible defendants; mitigation reports for defendants facing mandatory state prison sentences; parole reports for individuals whose parole has been violated that recommend reinstatement on parole with enhanced conditions; parole reports for individuals in state prison appearing before the parole board for release on parole. Other services include assessment/referral, court advocacy, and preparation of individualized sentencing plans for court and case management. Neighborhood House Association of BFNC 97 Lemon Street Buffalo, New York Supportive services offered to the Buffalo and Erie County region including programming, counseling, and referrals to other programs, mental health case management, residential opportunities, advocacy and alternatives to incarceration. Employment resources include job placement and referral to community services. Also provides food, shelter and counseling for ex-offenders. Must be recommended by the Federal Bureau of Prisons 120 days before parole or by state parole officer or Parole Board. Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority 300 Perry Street Buffalo, New York Section 8 housing assistance, Services available to residents only. Buffalo Urban League, Inc. 15 Genesee Street Buffalo, New York Services include economic development, employment recruitment, civil rights, family development, housing and adoption. Other programs include youth development, workplace development, scholarship services and business/economic services. Casa di Vita, Halfway House for Women 200 Albany Street Buffalo, New York Residential long-term assistance (more than thirty days) for women seeking substance abuse treatment.

Offering a variety of programs including individual, child, family and marriage counseling, basic emergency assistance, outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse programs, domestic violence services, intensive family therapy, family mediation, school intervention services, visitation programs and kinship programs. Programs include the Monsignor Carr Clinic for psychiatric treatment, consultation and diagnosis; a chemical dependency treatment program, community outreach treatment team, children s enhanced mental health program, senior social integration program, senior advocacy services and St. Joseph psychosocial club. Outside Erie County, mental health services include the Monsignor Carr Institute, Niagara Falls Children s Clinic and the Salamanca Psychosocial Club in Cattaraugus County. Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO Transitional Work Program) 170 Franklin Street ext Assists parolees to find full-time, permanent employment. Participants work on crews throughout the city, are paid daily and are assisted in finding permanent employment; must attend a week-long life skills course to be admitted. Length of program is 75 days of work, working 4 days per week. Transportation provided during first week of program. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Support services include referrals for HIV/AIDS and alcoholic/narcotic issues. Homeless Task Force assistance and weekly legal aid counseling available.

Cathedral Park Counseling offers support & advocacy for low-income, multiproblem individuals and support for families and children at or below the poverty level. 844 Delaware Avenue Services include the Ways to Work Family Loan Program (ext. 111), foster care and special needs adoption services (ext. 100, ext. 103 after business hours) and the Senior Companion program (ext. 116). Compass House Emergency Shelter 370 Linwood Avenue (between W. Utica and W. Ferry) (24-hour helpline) Services provided for runaway and homeless youth years old. Services include crisis counseling (individual, group and family), emergency shelter, food and clothing, advocacy, referral services and aftercare. All services are voluntary, confidential & free. Resource Center 1451 Main Street Non-residential services provided for homeless youth or youth at risk of homelessness ages 16 to 20. Services include case management, crisis counseling (individual, group and family), food (primarily referrals), independent living skills instruction, advocacy and referral to other community resources. A women and children s ministry is also provided. Crisis Pregnancy Center of Western New York 3210 Main Street (at Winspear Avenue) Buffalo, New York Provides free pregnancy testing, confidential discussions, referrals and resources to assist during and after pregnancy. Education and information on: prenatal development, abortion and alternatives to abortion, pregnancy prevention and sexually transmitted disease. Counseling available days and evenings; messages recorded over the weekend. Department of Veterans Affairs Serves veterans and dependents in areas of compensation, pension and education. Domestic Violence Offender Program Catholic Charities 1581 Bailey Avenue Buffalo, New York Offers court-mandated classes for adult male perpetrators of domestic violence. Programs include therapeutic supervised visitation program, parent/child access program, co-parenting classes and mediation with a monitored exchange.

Through a highly structured program, this provides a smooth transition to community life for men recently released from a correctional facility.

Anger management workshops, advocacy and assistance with social services and interpretation services also offered.
