1 TAX ATTORNEY RECRUITING EVENT (T.A.R.E.) ST. GREGORY S HOTEL AND LUXURY SUITES March 1, 2012 USING SYMPLICITY LOG IN: 1. Access the website at 2. Enter your Member ID and Password exactly as they appear on the you received from Symplicity. Remember, Symplicity is case-sensitive. 3. You should now be at the Home Page. NOTE: The password you receive for T.A.R.E. should be a different password than you received if you participated in any other job fairs through your Law School. DO NOT use a password or Member ID that was issued for another interviewing program, as it will not give you access to the T.A.R.E. website. COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE 1. Once you ve logged in, select the profile tab at the top of the screen. Once in the profile section, please fill out the first two tabs (Personal Information, and Academic Information). 2. Click on [Save Changes] before moving on to the next tab. 3. At this time, you may also change your assigned password under this section by clicking on the Password/Preferences tab. NOTE: The and telephone number/s listed in your profile will be the only information we have to contact you regarding this recruiting event. Make sure it is accurate. ADD YOUR DOCUMENTS 1. Once your Profile is complete, select the documents tab at the top of the screen. This is the section where you will upload your resume(s), cover letter(s), and unofficial transcript (possibly a writing sample and/or references if requested). 2. After clicking the [Add New] button, enter an identifying document title in the Label field and select a Document Type (i.e. if uploading a resume, select the resume button). 3. Click on the [Browse] button, select the file to upload and then click the [Submit] button. 4. The system will convert the document to a pdf. The process is complete when File Uploaded Successfully appears on the screen.

2 5. Click View Resume on the left menu to view the resume you have just uploaded. Under normal circumstances, you should be able to view your resume within five to ten seconds of uploading it. However, if you wait until the day of the deadline, the server will be very busy processing resumes and it may take more than a day for you to view your resume. Thus, it is very important that you do not wait until the last minute to upload your resume. IMPORTANT: It is your responsibility to view your resume to ensure that it appears accurately. Check carefully to see that the formatting is correct. To view your resume, your computer must be equipped with the latest version of Adobe Acrobat 4.0, which can be downloaded for free from If your resume appears on the screen with formatting errors, first check to see that you are using the latest version of Adobe. If you are using the correct version and still experience formatting problems, click on Resume Help (located on the left menu of the Resumes screen) for tips. If you are unable to correct the problem on your own, call your Career Services Office. To upload an employer-specific resume: When you submit employer bids, you will have an opportunity to upload employer-specific resumes. For example, if you are applying to both D.C. and California employers and have a permanent address in California, you may wish to upload a general resume (the default) with your D.C. address in the Profile section and upload a specific resume with your California address for the California employers. The next two steps, which tell you how to upload specific resumes, are optional. 1. Click on Specific Resumes on the left menu to upload any specific resumes that you would like to submit to an employer on your bid list. Select the employer from the drop-down box. Next, click on the Browse button and search for the file containing your resume. Double click on this document, and it will automatically be placed in the field next to the Browse button. 2. Next, click Upload to post the resume. The process is complete when File Uploaded Successfully appears on the screen. Repeat these steps for any other employers to whom you want to submit a specific resume. Keep in mind that the general resume you uploaded will be sent to any employer for whom you do not upload a specific resume. REMINDER: Be sure to view your uploaded document for successful conversion. All documents will be sent as uploaded to employers. After uploading and before bidding is the time that you need to discover any conversion issues as they can be solved prior to the bidding deadline. CAUTION: Use the internal back button on the Symplicity screen, not your browser s back button. SELECT YOUR EMPLOYERS NOTE: You must upload your resume before making employer selections in the system.

3 1. After successful upload of your documents, you can view employers who are participating in T.A.R.E. by selecting the OCI tab, then the Employers/Bidding Sub-tab and View All in the employer box. This will reveal currently registered employers participating in TARE. 2. Review upcoming dates on the Important Dates sidebar. Bidding deadlines will be listed here. Bid deadlines are firm. NO EXCEPTIONS! 3. Click the [Review] button to the left of each desired organization in order to view specific details they have submitted about their program. 4. To Bid or submit your resume to a particular employer for consideration, choose the [submit] button on the right of the screen. By bidding within the Review screen, you are able to submit either the default resume or an employer-specific resume. If you bid from the original list of employers, by selecting the [Apply] button, you will ONLY be able to submit the default resume. 5. Remember to check the Additional Requests within the Review screen when bidding on employers. 6. You may add or remove employers any time prior to the bidding deadline. Your choices will be final after the 12:00 p.m. (noon EST) deadline on Monday, February 6, ACCEPT YOUR INTERVIEWS 1. On February 14th, check your regularly for notification that you have been selected for an interview. You have until NOON on February 16, 2012 to schedule your interviews. 2. In addition, you can check the Symplicity website to see whether you have been selected for an interview with any of the employers that you submitted a bid for. Under the Invitations column, you will see a [Preselect] button. If you click here, you will be taken to the page which will list all available interview times for the employer. Repeat this process for all of the employers who have chosen to interview you. NOTE: All students who receive 2 or more interviews are expected to attend the recruiting event. 3. To increase your choices for interview times, you should schedule each interview as soon as possible after being notified. ALTERNATES NOTIFIED 1. Alternates will be notified of selections on February 16, Related Deadlines See the online timeline for details at February 13th -Deadline for employers to submit selections. February 16th at 12:00 p.m. (noon EST) -Deadline to schedule interviews. If you do not schedule your interview by the deadline, it is assumed that you have elected NOT to accept the interview and an alternate will be moved into your slot.

4 February 20th at NOON EST -Deadline for alternates to schedule interviews. If you do not schedule your interview by the deadline, it is assumed that you have elected NOT to accept the interview and your slot will be opened up to the next alternate. Important Information for Alternates If you have been notified that you are an alternate, check your regularly for notification that your slot has been promoted to an interview. The deadline to schedule your interviews is February 20th at Noon (EST).
