At Scheller, these and other sustainability related activities are typically supported and/or sponsored by the Center for Business Strategies for Sustainability, the Institute for Leadership & Entrepreneurship and/or the Cecil B. Day Program in Business Ethics. These organizations as well as the MBA Career Services Center are available to help advise students in their pursuits. Net Impact Club Net Impact, which has achieved Gold Status, is one of the larger clubs at Scheller and part of a community of more than 50,000 students and professional leaders creating positive social and environmental change in the workplace and the world. Whether you re taking on a social sector or environmental role or looking to bring your values to a

2 more traditional job, the club will help you connect with the resources and role models you need to achieve those goals. Global Social Venture Competition GSVC provides aspiring entrepreneurs with mentoring, exposure, and $50,000 in prizes to transform their ideas into businesses that will have positive real world impact. Georgia Tech is the Eastern Region Partner and will host the Executive Summary and Regional Semi-Final Rounds for Eastern Region Teams. The Finalists will travel to UC Berkeley in April to network with investors and entrepreneurs as well as compete for $50,000 in prizes. Ideas to Serve (I2S) Competition I2S involves student/alumni teams with ideas for socially relevant products and services who compete for tens of thousands of dollars of prize money. The final event is a poster showcase session that is open to the public. There is even a "people's choice" prize to be awarded based on votes from visitors to the competition. Board Fellows Program Organized by the College s Net Impact chapter, the Board Fellows Program prepares MBAs for future roles on a board of directors. You'll serve as non-voting member on Atlanta-area non-profit boards. As a fellow, you'll become better acquainted with board roles and functions, while providing business skills, new insights, and innovative perspectives to non-profit organizations. Business Ethics Speaker Series Organized by the Cecil B. Day program, this series brings speakers, both professionals and academics, to speak about specific ethical issues in business and the ethical challenges they have met in their own careers. 3 Appendix Course Descriptions 1. MGT 6359 Business Strategies for Sustainability This course takes a holistic view of the interaction of businesses with the environment. It outlines the business implications of environmental issues, introduces environmental assessment and management tools, and visits topics from various business functions. 2. MGT 8803 Sustainable Business Consulting Practicum Students gain knowledge in three important areas: management consulting, sustainability, and project management. This course takes students through a crash course in management consulting skills and also provides an understanding of important sustainability frameworks and approaches. Students then form teams and scope, plan, execute, and deliver a 12-week consulting project for participating companies. 3. MGT 6113 Pro Bono Consulting Pro Bono Consulting class helps non-profit organizations based in Atlanta resolve key strategic challenges. Since its inception, participants have worked with such clients as the American Cancer Society, Art of Living, MedShare International, and The Sullivan Center. As a participant, you'll have an opportunity to apply classroom theory and gain consulting experience. 4. MGT 6059 Analysis of Emerging Technologies Emerging technologies have the potential to change business environments rapidly, with profound implications for firms, markets, and society as a whole. This course introduces students to methods for analyzing and making decisions about emerging technologies. Sustainability is a key topic covered in the examination of technologies related to energy and transportation. 5. MGT 6165 Venture Creation Learn how to create, design, find, assess, and shape opportunities. Understand and apply the strategic process of venture creation. Develop and present a venture creation plan. Covers ventures starting from scratch or within an organization. Develop a sense of how to make decisions and execute strategies. 6. MGT 6772 Management of Technology The focus of this course is the analysis of the challenges associated with managing a firm's resource capabilities for long-term competitive advantage. Particular emphasis is placed on planning under conditions including rapid technological innovation (in products and processes), international competition, and changing markets. 7. MGT 6326 New Product and Service Development This course offers a systematic overview of the management challenges that arise during the product/service development process. The process requires integration across the traditional management functions, an extremely hard capability to cultivate. The course introduces concepts, frameworks and tools that build the foundations for such an integrative capability: linking product/service development to strategy, and managing the development process for speed, efficiency, and market impact. Students, in groups, are expected to develop a new product or service. Recent projects include Opti-lawn that developed a prototype of a wireless-enabled moisture sensor for intelligent irrigation and ParkHub that developed an early prototype of a web-based marketplace for individuals to rent parking spots on their property to individuals seeking parking near locations.

CP 6190 Intro Climate Change Planning This course equips students with the knowledge and methods necessary to develop the next generation of state, local, corporate, and enterprise climate action planning. 2. CP 6261 Environmental Law This course introduces students to the framework of legislation that shapes environmental planning and policy, including NEPA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act. CEE 6323 Natural Resources Environmental Economics Covers the relationship between economic and ecological systems. Students will review case studies and examples, tools of environmental policy, environmental economic evaluation. 4. CEE 6625 Transportation, Energy & Air Quality Students investigate relationships between transportation demand, energy supply and consumption, fuel types, greenhouse gas emissions, and relationships between vehicle technology, pollutant emissions, modeling techniques, and air quality 5. ECE8803 Power System Economics This course provides a comprehensive introduction to electricity economics, including economic theory, electricity markets, and policy. The behavior of the physical system including the grid, and the market is modeled in detail and simulated through software including auction and trading exercises. Emphasis is given to current trends: renewable energy, information systems, smart grid, and consumer empowerment as drivers for market architecture.. MSE 6759 Materials for Environmentally Conscious Design and Manufacturing Covers the environmental impact of materials choices and quantitative measure of life-cycle assessment and environmental burden. The Natural Step philosophy will be used as a model for the overall approach. Cross listed with ME and PTFE ECON 7102 Environmental Economics I Topics includes externalities, property rights, incentive design, emission taxes, tradable emission permits, renewable and nonrenewable resources, innovation incentives originating with environmental regulations and globalization, trans-boundary pollutants within and across nations, international environmental agreements, and the globalization impacts on the environment. 8. PUBP 6300 Earth Systems Describes the scientific principles and interactions that make up the Earth's environmental system. The course examines the interaction of natural and human influences that shape the development and operation of the Earth system and how public and private decisionmaking impacts this system. 9. PUBP 6310 Environmental Issues Provides an overview of basic concepts and methods of environmental policy analysis and implementation through a case study approach. Cases will range from local to global environmental policy issues. The goal of the course will be to expose students to the

5 broad range of social and physical problems referred to as "environmental" problems, and to orient the student for future work in the field. 10. PUBP 6312 Economics-Environmental Policy This course addresses key concepts in environmental economics, including externalities, efficiency, social welfare and environmental quality as a public good. Addresses environmental problems (i.e. water resources, air quality, urbanization) and vehicles of collective environmental action. 11. PUBP 6314 Policy Tools-Environ Management Explores the various regulatory, managerial, and legal mechanisms available to policy analysts and decision makers for protecting environmental quality. 12. PUBP Sustainable Systems This course is a historical introduction to sustainable development. The ethical, economic, ecological, and technological dimensions of sustainability are examined. Topics include sustainable development in developing and developed countries; ecosystem health and resilience; the global carrying capacity controversy; sustainable communities, new urbanism, regenerative technologies; designs for disassembly; appropriate technologies and the politics of technologies. 13. EAS 6132 Intro to Climate Change The climate of the Earth, its radiation budget, greenhouse gases and their sources and sinks, potential changes due to anthropogenic activities, detection of climate changes.
