This program gives a comprehensive overview of the financial and accounting concepts that every manager and executive needs to know in order to make better business decisions, and advance your career. The next program will be held March 25-28, 2014 at the GSU Executive Education Center in Buckhead (classroom pictured at left) which is located on floors 4, 5 and 6 at the Tower Place 200 building and offers easy access to Interstate I-85 and Georgia 400. The Center offers high-technology classrooms, breakout rooms, and labs. 4 Anticipated Program Faculty Ray Dillon, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Accountancy in the Robinson Business School. He has a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance and is a CPA in the state of Georgia. At Robinson, Ray has taught in the Ph.D., Executive MBA, MBA, and undergraduate programs, including numerous Robinson executive education courses. In addition, he has also held administrative positions at Robinson and has taught at Texas Tech University and Emory University, earning several awards for his teaching. Named Accounting Educator of the Year in Georgia for 2001, Ray is the author of two books and more than 40 papers published in professional, health care, and academic journals. Ray has spoken before many professional organizations and has consulted with BellSouth, Scientific-Atlanta, Cingular, Nova Corporation, WorldSpan, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avon Corporation, IBM, Bank of America, Dresser Industries, Crawford and Company, and Equifax, among other companies. He has acted as an expert witness for accounting and finance issues in both federal and state courts and has held professional offices in the Financial Executives Institute, the American Association of Accountants, and the Georgia State Society of CPAs. Vincent J. Giovinazzo, Ph.D., CMA, is a Professor Emeritus of the School of Accountancy at the Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson College of Business. His major areas of expertise are financial statement analysis, financial accounting, business valuations, managerial accounting, activity-based costing, performance evaluation, profit planning, and budgeting. He has been published in numerous journals and awarded the National Association of Accountant s annual Gold Medal for Literature on two occasions. Vince has participated in consulting and training activities for numerous banks, Fortune 500 companies, professional and industrial association, and government units. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. from New York University. Vince has been a member of faculties in both Boston and Rio de Janeiro and was also formerly a manager in the management consulting practice of Coopers and Lybrand, dealing with clients throughout the United States and Brazil. Dr. Giovinazzo received a Certificate of Merit for his performance on the annual Certified Management Accounting exam in which he achieved one of the highest scores in the United States. He has also been the recipient of numerous teaching honors based on both faculty evaluations and student polls. Craig Ruff, Ph.D., is a Clinical Professor of Finance at the Georgia State University, J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He was formerly a Vice President in the Educational Products department at the CFA Institute (formerly the Association for Investment Management and Research) and associate editor of the Financial Analysis Journal. Professor Ruff has also worded in the areas of equity valuation and quantitative portfolio analysis for Atlanta Capital Management which is an institutional money management firm. Prior to joining Georgia State University, Dr. Ruff was a Senior Economist at the Federal Loan Bank of Atlanta where he specialized in interest rate risk modeling and mortgage-derivative products. His research and practice interests are in investments and he has published numerous articles on interest-rate risk in both academic journals and practitioner publications. Professor Ruff has also co-authored a set of cases on international asset management that now reside in the Darden and INSEAD case collections. Dr. Ruff has won teaching awards at both Georgia State University and Georgia Tech. He is a CFA charter holder, a trustee for the CFA Society, a trustee of the CFA Society of Atlanta, a member of the Board of Directors of YieldQuest Mutual funds, and a member of the Academic Advisory Board for Decatur Capital Management. Craig earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Virginia Tech, a Master s Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor s Degree from Virginia Tech.
