6 Web: (C) Information Sheet Making an Application to the Masters of Arts in Art and Design Education programme for Only candidates who successfully complete Stage 1 - Application will be called for interview (Stage 2). Stage 1 - Application 1. Application Portfolio - this should include (1) a general statement about your art/craft/design curriculum in the particular educational environment in which you are currently working (second-level, PLC, HSE, alternative educational settings). (2) examples of your students' work, for instance you may decide to photograph a cross section of current work with labels explaining the curriculum areas being addressed to be submitted with a hard copy of your application form and Curriculum Vitae. Please note the criteria used to judge this portfolio centres on (a) the educational significance of the art work rather than the actual quality of the work per se, in other words the socio-economic background and/or academic background of the school setting will is taken into account and (b) the organisation and presentation of the portfolio. (The application portfolio should be A4 spiral bound comprising a cover page with applicants name, curriculum statement and annotated photographic documentation of students' work) 2. Curriculum Vitae (1) teaching/work experience and (2) achievements etc. 3. Referees - as part of the application process submit the names of two referees, one person familiar with your educational work (for example a teaching colleague or school management personnel) and one person familiar with other creative/community commitments that you may have (for example, someone familiar with your art/design work/practice, someone who is involved with you in a community group or organisation etc.). 7 Stage 2 - Interview 1. Interview the panel will be looking for the following (1) a sense of conviction and enthusiasm in relation to education and creative practice (2) knowledge and expertise of education and visual arts (3) interpersonal and communication skills (4) motivation for/interest in professional development (5) motivation for/interest in an online community of practice approach to learning (6)commitment to art and design practice. 2. Art and Design Portfolio examples of past or current art/design practice. You may wish to bring sketchbooks and slides/photographs/digital video clips of your work. to be presented at interview. The panel will be looking for the following (1) Past and/or current art/craft/design work of substance (2) Organisation and presentation of the portfolio. Please note that you will be asked to supply copies (not originals) of your third level education academic transcripts. Interviews take place at the Limerick School of Art and Design, Clare Street, Limerick. Please expect to be at the School for approximately two hours. Interviews will take place June/July Entry requirements Higher Diploma/Postgraduate Diploma in art and design teaching at 2:2 and/or Honours degree in art/craft/design at 2:2.
