The Graduate Program in Health Administration prepares a diverse student body for mid-level and senior-level positions in health care management and related disciplines. 16 Two Application Processes Applicants to master's and doctoral programs must typically: Apply to both the university and the academic department. Many departments have higher admission standards than the university admission criteria. and require a A Separate departmental application. Filing deadline is March 1, 2015

17 Send CSUN s A&R Your Transcripts Your official transcripts are needed to determine your admission eligibility. Soon after you apply to CSUN, send us official transcripts for all of the following: All courses taken at other colleges and universities previously attended even if the course work was not completed All college courses in which you are currently enrolled (these are your preliminary, work-in-progress transcripts) Your final transcripts for work-in-progress as soon as you complete the courses and grades are posted All transcripts, preliminary and final, must be official (received in sealed, unopened envelopes). Ask your previous schools to send your official transcripts directly to us. In some cases, transcripts may be sent to CSUN electronically. Check with your previous school. 18 After You Apply to CSUN Links are live when in Slide-Show mode After you have applied to CSUN, make the rest of your admissions process go smoothly with these steps: Set up your CSUN account and as explained in the "activate your CSUN user ID and password" letter you received from Admissions and Records. See account activation instructions. Monitor your application status. Log into mynorthridge Portal, locate My Checklist," and review your Incomplete Tasks such as missing transcripts. For help with the portal, see the How To Guides. Check often for CSUN correspondence sent to your CSUN box, by regular mail, and in mynorthridge ("My Announcements"). Send the $55 application fee if you haven't already done so in CSUMentor. Send us your official transcripts (see below)

19 Documentation Required for MSHA Admission Decision Process MSHA Supplemental Application Three letter of reference A Personal Statement of Purpose A current resume with work experience Transcripts MUST be sent to CSUN s A&R A 2 nd unofficial transcript can be sent in with your application packet to Department of Health Sciences. But the only official transcripts sent to A&R can be evaluated If courses are still in process during Spring 2015, indicated that in your Personal Statement of Purpose and sent degree verification as soon as possible.

20 How long does it take to complete the MSHA program? Because our program is centered on early career and mid-career working individuals, all of our courses are in the evenings, 7:00PM to 9:30PM. Some prerequisite or electives at 4PM and a few on Saturdays We have several sequences tailored to the needs of our different constituencies. Our most common is a 3-year suggested sequence with individuals taking 3 courses per semester. The 4-year sequence is for individuals who need a slightly slower pace at 2-courses per semester. The 2-year full-time sequence is for exceptional students with unique needs and who can devote 4 courses per semester. Expected standard: For every hour in class you should be spending at least one-hour outside of class on reading, group projects, papers, etc

21 Profile of Recently Admitted MSHA Students Average overall GPA = 3.3 Average GPA for last 60-units = 3.5 Range of years of work experience in healthcare: 1 year to 12 years Some have work experience outside of the healthcare industry Average years of work experience in healthcare = 2.75 (est)

22 A few words about Graduate Record Exam If your overall GPA for your undergraduate degree is above 3.0 you do not need to take the Graduate Record Exam. If you overall GPA is below 3.0 BUT your last 60- unit GPA is 3.2 or higher, you do not need to take the GRE. If you take the GRE one (1) of the three (3) sections must be at 50% or higher.
