Dynamic, a free resource in the pool will be assigned to the user when the pool is launched. This enables a fixed group of devices to be shared among users. Persistent, once the user receives an available resource, it will be mapped permanently to the user until the Administrator resets the mapping. Non-Persistent, the assigned resource is restricted during use, but will be available to the next user once the current user is finished. 4. Click Next and set Owners if desired. This is only applicable to dynamic pools as static pools have all devices previously assigned (i.e. Owners defined in the device s Properties): Click Add to browse your Active Directory service for desired users and groups that will have access to this pool. Only Owners of the pool will have access. 5. Click Next and specify the Logoff/Disconnect events. Leave these settings at default values for PCoIP pools. 6. (Optionally) Select Logoff when machine is in Idle time and insert a value for Idle time. 7. Click Next and then Finish. The new Pool will be added. To change settings in the future: 1. NOTE The PCoIP host must be allocated in a static pool in order to accept static connections from PCoIP clients. NOTE Ericom Tools are not required for Static Mapping or PCoIP connections. Step 5: Username access without using Ericom Tools For scenarios where Ericom Tools cannot be installed on the PCoIP host, username access (free seating) is still supported. NOTE When Ericom Tools is not running on the PCoIP host, the host will not be available for RDP access via PowerTerm WebConnect. To enable username access for PCoIP devices: 1. Right click and select Settings. 24

25 2. Select the PCoIP tab and select the Do not force PCoIP hosts to use Ericom Tools checkbox (The name of this feature may vary depending on PowerTerm WebConnect version being used.) 3. Click OK. 4. Create dynamic pools (see Step 3 previously) and assign PCoIP hosts to each pool. 5. The user must connect from a PCoIP host that is not statically mapped to a host. A PowerTerm WebConnect login dialog will appear. 6. When the user logs in one of the following will occur: If the user only has one pool assigned, the PCoIP client will make a dynamic connection to a PCoIP host in the assigned pool and display the login screen of the host operating system If the user has more than one pool assigned, a pool selection dialog will appear for the user s selection. Upon selection, the user will be directed to the login screen of the respective device. If a user is directed to a pool where no machines are available, the user will see a message stating No Machines Available. In order to provide the user with a desktop, another machine can be added to the pool, or the user can select an alternate pool that contains free machines. 25

NOTE If the Program Folder designation was modified during installation, the Start menu path may wary. 36

37 Q: When I try to connect using username (fixed seating) a message appears stating No machine available Verify that there is an available device in the pool the user is selecting. Verify that expected machine OS (blade/pcoip/virtual machine) is not logged in by another user. Verify that CurrentOwner is empty or defined for the user trying to connect. Q: I have two entries in my PCoIP Device assignment. Does this mean that the user must meet both requirements? No, only one of the conditions needs to be met for access to the device. For example, if your Properties page looks like the following: Any user can access the device from the fixed seating client, or, the user visitor can connect from any device. 37
