1 HARVARD GLOBAL ADVISORY COUNCIL A RECORD OF GENEROUS LEADERSHIP 2015

2 Our donors are bringing the world to Harvard and Harvard to the world. They are supporting future generations of students and ensuring that their experiences are as meaningful and memorable as possible. They are creating and renewing campus spaces that will invite exchange and collaboration across the University community. They are advancing and sharing knowledge that will serve humanity. DREW GILPIN FAUST, PRESIDENT OF HARVARD UNIVERSITY AND LINCOLN PROFESSOR OF HISTORY The first years of The Harvard Campaign have been remarkably successful thanks to the leadership and support demonstrated by Harvard s generous community of alumni and friends including those serving on the Global Advisory Council. In addition to sharing insights on the University s global engagement, GAC members have been important partners in the Campaign by making contributions that will advance Harvard s mission to create and disseminate knowledge in service to society. Since the start of The Harvard Campaign, GAC members have contributed more than $995 million toward the total $6.1 billion raised as of June 30, Hailing from 24 countries and representing a wide variety of professions and backgrounds, the Global Advisory Council has come together to support the University, President Faust, and the Campaign. What follows is a brief look at how members of the GAC are helping to ensure that we achieve our shared aspirations to have a lasting, positive impact on the world.

4 EDUCATING GLOBAL CITIZENS A team of first-year MBA students doing fieldwork in a local market in Accra, Ghana. A vital aspect of Harvard s mission is to ensure that our students have opportunities to pursue international experiences and that our curriculum and course work are shaped through a global lens. By facilitating exposure to other cultures and settings, the University seeks to prepare students to view their work and their lives in a larger context. Members of the GAC have championed this goal through the support of programs that make it possible for students to study abroad, travel to conduct research, and engage with other cultures. GUSTAVE M. (GUS) HAUSER LLB 53 AND RITA E. HAUSER HLS 58 Gus and Rita Hauser created the President s Fund for Innovative Teaching, which in turned launched the Harvard Initiative on Teaching and Learning (HILT). GAC MEMBERS WHO HAVE PROVIDED UNRESTRICTED SUPPORT TO THE HARVARD GLOBAL FUND Elif B. Bilgi MBA 94 Dhanin Chearavanont Paolo Zapparoli MBA 94 In order to engage with today s most pressing challenges, Harvard must be able to respond rapidly to priorities affected by current events around the world, such as the recent Ebola epidemic. The Harvard Global Fund helps Harvard sustain its role as an international leader, convener, and innovator. Beyond financial support, the influence and leadership of the Global Advisory Council has been vital to The Harvard Campaign. With expertise and experience that reaches all corners of the earth, the GAC continues to be a key partner in the Campaign and in conceiving the University s global future.
