3 Why these studies were born? European Directive 2002/91/EC PROMOTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY= way to achieve the objectives of the Kyoto Protocol.
4 How? This Directive requires that all members state that any building whether sold or rented must be accompanied by a certificate of energy efficiency.
5 Spanish Legislation This policy in the Spanish state had not been implemented until 2007: Adoption of the Technical Building Regulations. Modification of the regulations of heated buildings. Royal Decree 47/2007 about energy performance in buildings.
6 Technical Building Regulations Basic Requirement of Energy Saving: 1. Reduction of energy demand. 2. Heating and cooling systems performance. 3. Energy efficiency of lighting systems. 4. A compulsory solar contribution to sanitary hot water. 5. Minimum PV (PhotoVoltaic) electricity production.
7 A Compulsory Solar Contribution To Sanitary Hot Water All buildings which use hot sanitary water or indoor swimmingpool heating systems must install solar panels in order to heat water with solar energy.
8 Royal Decree 47/2007 Basic procedure for certification of Energy Efficiency in new buildings. Obtain the Energy Efficiency Certificate and also the Energy Efficiency Label of the building.
9 Energy Certification 1. Calculate the Building Energy Demand with a simulation software (LIDER). 2. Calculate The Building Energy Consumption with the software (CALENER). CALENER is the only official energy certification program: It's free and compulsory. It is accessible through the website of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
10 CALENER The program compares the building modeled with a standard building, with the same characteristics, located in the same geographical location, which is in the correct regulation rate of consumption. According to this comparison the program assigns the building an energy efficiency class, from A to G, A being the best qualification and G being the worst.
