CURRENT RESEARCH INTEREST Ambivalence In my PhD research I examined the antecedents and consequences of the experience of ambivalence. Ambivalence is the experience of having both positive and negative feelings and thoughts about a single topic. Her studies investigate circumstances under which ambivalence is experienced as aversive, how our body influences the degree to which we feel ambivalent, and the temporal dynamics of ambivalence. Judgement & Decision-making Emotion Regulation I explore how higher level cognition influences judgements of weight. Further more, I investigate in the influence of sensory experience, such as weight, distance, and mouth movements on decision-making and judgement. I (co) supervises multiple PhD students with whom I investigate the way in which people s body influences their emotional experiences (with Lotte Veenstra), how self-control may cause somatic neglect (with Caroline Schlinkert) and the buffering effects of belonging for people with low selfesteem (with Mandy Tjew A Sin).
