2 Profile Label: Theatre Assistant Practitioner Job Statement: 1. Supports a theatre team in the care of patients prior to and during surgery 2. Cleans and prepares theatre equipment and instruments used for surgical procedures 3. Assists surgical medical staff for minor surgical procedures 4. Undertakes patient observations undergoing surgery to monitor condition Factor Relevant Job Information JE Level JE Score 1. Responsibility for Research & Development Implement clinical care/ care packages Patient observations, assists surgical medical team for a range of minor surgical procedures Follow policies in own role, may be required to comment Implements policies and contributes to the development of the theatre organisation and services Safe use of equipment other than equipment used personally; Maintain stock control; Safe use of highly complex equipment Prepares surgical equipment used by others, maintains theatre stocks and supplies, prepares expensive & complex machinery for specified operative procedures and theatre list Demonstrate own activities to new or less experienced employees Supports HCAs and junior ATP staff. by demonstrating own duties and theatre procedures Record personally generated information Records patient observations, patient data and other theatre data required for auditing/quality issues Undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work. Carries out audit procedures as necessary 12.
