The purpose of this continued employment is to maintain a high level of clinical expertise, a crucial part of establishing respect and validity among clinical staff and students in my clinical teaching role. It is my opinion that there is no substitute for providing hands-on patient care to achieve the goal of clinical expertise. Active investigation in student success with NCLEX related to drop in pass rate at UA CON. Brown, MSN, RN, CCRN Page 7 RTP Clinical Tenure Track Task Force, spring semester This group included members of the RTP committee and the Faculty Practice committee with a common goal of creating non-tenure clinical promotion track criteria, which was approved by faculty in the Spring semester, The Clinical Tenure Track document was written, as recommended by the AAUP faculty contract representatives, and was voted down at the May 2007 Faculty Organization meeting. Collaboration with the RTP committee continued during the academic years for final approval in April MEDS Publishing System Site Coordinator: I have served in this role since the beginning of Fall semester This academic year of , I incorporated the use of the 4Cast exam for last semester senior students. Extensive time was invested in administering this online proctored test, and supporting and tracking the student s remediation activities to improve NCLEX pass rate. I continue to coordinate the incorporation of the MEDS Learning System RN, Nurse Logic, and Dosage and Calculation Made Easy programs into the undergraduate curriculum, and track the graduating seniors completion of end-of-program assignments. Benchmark data is reported to the Baccalaureate Curriculum Committee for analysis and used for credentialing bodies. I also coordinate the live NCLEX-RN review courses held in May and August at the University of Akron, provided by the MEDS Publishing Company, acting as a liaison between the college and the company. NCLEX Task Force, chair January The committee s activities were focused on improvement of NCLEX pass rates for The University of Akron, College of Nursing students, Spring semester Analysis of student records, NCLEX reports, curriculum policies, course content and exams, and faculty development needs at the. Recommendations were made to the Admission and Progression, as well as the Baccalaureate Curriculum committees. NCLEX Task Force, Chair, 2/02 5/02. Activities included leading and coordinating an investigation into the low NCLEX scores of BSN students during Statistical review, analysis, and identification of appropriate short-term and longterm strategies for implementation to increase student success, were the goals of the task force. Recommendations were made to the Baccalaureate Curriculum committee and Admissions/Progressions committee for revision of current procedures. I also coordinated presentations from three vendors which led to a recommendation to the faculty for adoption of the MEDS Publishing total curriculum support system. Two faculty development sessions were also initiated to strengthen faculty skills at item-writing and testing skills, Spring, Sophomore Task Force, 9/00-5/01. Activities focused on initiating and operationalizing the proposed changes in the Sophomore level curriculum to be implemented 8/01.
