UWS commits over $3 million to scholarships each year, providing new students with scholarship opportunities covering a range of eligibility criteria. If you achieve a 90+ ATAR they might be eligible to receive $20,000 through the Academic Excellence Scholarship (no application required). Students who achieve a 90+ ATAR and demonstrate lead Leadership potential and community involvement could be eligible to receive $50,000 through the Vice-Chancellor s Leadership Scholarship! This is UWS s most prestigious scholarship and provides all successful candidates with membership to The Academy, our new personal and professional leadership development program. Selection for this scholarship is through an application and interview. UWS also has a range of donor-funded scholarships available with varying criteria. Students simply answer three questions, and are provided with a full list of the scholarships for which they may be eligible. Please note that students can hold more than one scholarship at a time, so it is highly recommended that they apply for several. UWS strongly encourages students to research all scholarships available and to apply for all in which they meet the eligibility criteria. The application process is online, and students can apply for multiple scholarships in a single application. The closing date for most scholarship applications is 9

10 January 2015, so students still have time to write applications and personal statements after the exams finish. UNSW: Changes to the AAA Scholarship The Academic Achievement Awards are provided to encourage academically gifted local Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent students from NSW and ACT high schools to undertake undergraduate study at UNSW. For entry to UNSW in 2015, the selection process will no longer require the school Principal's nomination. AAA offers will be made by UNSW to students that achieve the highest ATAR (not including bonus points) at eligible NSW and ACT high schools p_scholarship_specific_id=1 C.A.S. HAWKER SCHOLARSHIPS The 2015 C.A.S. Hawker Scholarships open on Monday 8 th December 2014 and close on Friday 2 nd January The C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship is one of the most generous privately funded scholarships available to undergraduate students in Australia. Each residential scholarship is valued at up to $45,000 over three years. Information about the C.A.S. Hawker Scholarship and an application form are available at or by contacting the secretary to the Trustees on The Charles Hawker Scholarship perpetuates the memory of scholar, soldier and pastoralist Charles Allan Seymour Hawker and commemorates the achievements of one of Australia s most respected statesmen. The scholarships are available to all Australian students. The majority have been awarded to students entering their first year of university study. Selection is largely based on personal qualities and demonstrated leadership as well as academic ability. Undergraduate Hawker Scholars are able to attend a range of Australian educational institutions. The University of Notre Dame Australia: Academic Merit Scholarships for Commencing Students Applications close Wed 31 December This scholarship offers students a fully fee paid year of full-time tuition towards a single degree program at The University of Notre Dame. Successful applicants will have either a high academic ability demonstrated by their ATAR, IB result, a pre-tertiary qualification of Cert IV level or higher, or a combination of the above. Southern Cross University Main Round Scholarships Applications close Sat 20 December Southern Cross University offers a range of scholarships to undergraduate students commencing study in Applicants can apply online and will be considered for all scholarships that they are eligible for. Graphic Design - Tractor 2015 Intake Scholarship Written submissions due Fri 23 January Tractor is offering one full time scholarship for the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design. To apply, applicants are required to write a 500 word maximum submission on why you would like a Tractor Scholarship. La Trobe University Hallmark Program Hallmark program gives students the opportunity of access to and mentoring by a team of groundbreaking researchers and they are able to participate in real research projects that address the big issues of our time. Students can still preference this program during Change of Preference.

11 Applications are via three different course groups, each with specific prerequisites that need to be met to be eligible for selection. Selection into a course group guarantees entry into any of the courses listed within that group. All successful applicants into the program will receive a scholarship of $10,500 over four years. Charles Darwin University High Achievers Scholarships There is no application required for these scholarships; students who are eligible will be contacted in writing. Vice- Chancellors Prize: a one-off payment of $6,000 awarded to a number of commencing students based on ATAR. Pro Vice-Chancellors Scholarships: $6,000 for the first year and $5,000 for subsequent years (up to 4 years) awarded to the two highest achieving students entering each faculty. Department of Construction and Infrastructure Co-Op Scholarship in Engineering: $67,500 plus paid work placements over the duration of the course. Five awarded to the highest ranked entrants. Commonwealth Scholarships There are a number of University Scholarships offered by the Commonwealth government. These include ABSTUDY, Austudy, Youth Allowance, Fares Allowance, Education Entry Payments and more. There will not be any accommodation offered by MRS at the Caulfield campus in Applicants studying at Caulfield are encouraged to apply for Clayton accommodation and take advantage of the free shuttle bus service that the University provides. 13 General Information Positions vacant Asia-Pacific Youth Organisation The Asia-Pacific Youth Organisation (APYO) is looking for people between the age of 16 and 30 to join them in promoting discussion about the political, diplomatic and economic issues facing the Asia- Pacific region. The positions on offer are based in Canberra and require a minimum weekly commitment of between 3 and 6 hours depending on the position. Short Courses, Workshops & Holiday Programs UTS Discover Architecture Summer School Applications close Mon 5 January Summer school runs from Mon 12 January Thu 22 January, UTS School of Architecture, Harris Street, Ultimo. This is aimed at students who are considering a career in architecture. Students will get to explore the Sydney CBD, make models and drawings using advanced digital equipment, meet and work with architects working at a variety of levels, and more. Students perform tasks such as blood typing, DNA analysis, identifying fibres from a crime scene, cleaning a digital photograph and undertaking fingerprint analysis to collect evidence against six suspects. 14 Year 11 and Year 12 students 2015 National Computer Science School - Summer School 2015 The National Computer Science School (NCSS) is a 10-day summer school taking place at the University of Sydney from Sunday 4 to Tuesday 13 January. Cost per student is $400. The program brings together young people in years 11 and 12 from around Australia for an intensive course of computer programming and website development. Museum of Contemporary Art Events for Young Creatives The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney is holding a series of events for young creatives over the coming months. These events include drawing workshops and other art-making exercises. The course scope includes film grammar, script writing, the production process, crewing, camera skills, studio production, the art of editing and distribution. Students will create a short film and the course will be completed with a review of the work. The Young Writers Program is an extension of NaNoWriMo, and is open to writers up to 17 years of age. Register for free online: FAW have a range of awards available for all kinds of writers and ages. There are young poet awards as well as short story awards for stories under 3,000 words. Entries close Sunday 30 November. Raffles Photography Competition Term 4 closing date is Monday 1 December.
