14 Year 11 and Year 12 students 2015 National Computer Science School - Summer School 2015 The National Computer Science School (NCSS) is a 10-day summer school taking place at the University of Sydney from Sunday 4 to Tuesday 13 January. Cost per student is $400. The program brings together young people in years 11 and 12 from around Australia for an intensive course of computer programming and website development. Museum of Contemporary Art Events for Young Creatives The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney is holding a series of events for young creatives over the coming months. These events include drawing workshops and other art-making exercises. Mon 19 January Fri 23 January Main round applications close Fri 28 November Students in years 10, 11 & 12 can get a taste for Sydney Film School before they enrol with their Digital Filmmaking Distinction Course. The course scope includes film grammar, script writing, the production process, crewing, camera skills, studio production, the art of editing and distribution. Students will create a short film and the course will be completed with a review of the work. Contact: Resources and Competitions Young Writers Program The National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is an international writing marathon where writers around the world challenge themselves to write a piece of fiction in the month of November. The Young Writers Program is an extension of NaNoWriMo, and is open to writers up to 17 years of age. Register for free online: FAW have a range of awards available for all kinds of writers and ages. There are young poet awards as well as short story awards for stories under 3,000 words. Entries close Sunday 30 November. Raffles Photography Competition Term 4 closing date is Monday 1 December.
