3 Counseling Division Overview New students are required to participate in the matriculation process; which includes assessment with appropriate course placement, college orientation, academic, career, and personal counseling. All student support services programs at Skyline College promote the objective of serving the whole student and supporting student success Learning communities are cohort-based that couple courses in instruction with counseling Articulation CSU, UC, independent colleges, Project Assist, AD-T & C- IDs) Assessment/placement Online assessments with a variety of online resources for prep Counseling - A variety of face-to-face and electronic counseling services are offered to assist students in counseling and immediate academic planning, as well as detailing transfer options.
4 Counseling Division Overview Cont. Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) financial assistance and educational support for first-generation, low-income students CalWORKs, CARE - Direct support is provided for child care, books, parking permits, bus passes and career counseling to support student learning and enhance achievement for these students Disability Resource Center Assistive technology, test proctoring, assessments, workability, etc. all support students with special needs TRiO Student Support Services Support first-generation, low-income and disabled to graduate and transfer within 4 years through wrap-around services Career Services Center - Resource materials, inventory tools, workshops and job fairs Transfer Center Comprehensive transfer resources including a campus wide transfer initiative

9 Integrated Planning & Budget Process The Counseling Division and all departments within the division take part in the comprehensive program review process as well as other integrated planning and budget processes. Counseling Division s 2010 Comprehensive Program Review ALURs completed on a yearly basis College s Work Plan (09-10) Faculty/Staff prioritization College Budget Committee (CBC)
