1 WHARTON UNDERGRADUATE CLASS OF RISING SENIORS SUMMER 2013 EMPLOYMENT REPORT Student responses were collected using an online survey. Of the 624 Wharton seniors scheduled to graduate during the academic year, 412 completed the survey (66% response rate). Of those, 403 students indicated whether they were fulltime employed, part-time employed, or participating in other activities. Many worked in various areas of finance including investment banking, securities research, private equity, venture capital, investment management, nonbanking financial analysis, and sales & trading. Consulting was also popular, with 15.2% interning in that field, as was marketing with 9.3% of students choosing it. Increases were noted this year in students interning in information technology and real estate over summer Chart is based on data from both full-time and part-time positions. Primary Summer Experience The vast majority of Wharton students (nearly 90%) participated in full-time, paid internships over the summer, receiving an average monthly salary of $4,684. Smaller percentages pursued unpaid and/or part-time positions or other activities such as classes, travel or independent research.
