7 Foreword It is a great pleasure to lead this visit to India and I am proud to be accompanied by a Dutch business delegation with knowledge and expertise in various sectors such as smart cities, high tech and cyber security. In these sectors, Dutch businesses can establish valuable partnerships with their Indian counterparts. For those participants who are already operating in the Indian market, this mission presents an opportunity to expand their network. For others, this mission can be an excellent first introduction to the Indian market and potential partners. For the Netherlands, India is an important country as we enjoyed centuries of friendship and trade; the first Dutch traders set foot on the Indian sub-continent in around India, as the maritime and aviation hub for South Asia, parallels the Dutch experience as the gateway to Europe. Our strategic position, each on our own continent, thus creates opportunities to work with each other. The Indo-Dutch relationship is shaped by government-to-government relations, but also by excellent contacts between our business communities. We are one of India s five largest trading partners, and trade volume between our countries has more than tripled in the past decade. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs works to foster an enabling environment so that Dutch companies large and small can succeed in India. The principles of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are a crucial component of these efforts. The Netherlands works with partners at multilateral level to improve market access. At bilateral level, we work in areas such as trade and investment, science and technology, and CSR and sustainable production chains. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs contributes to business development by organising regular economic missions. On this occasion, our focus will be on New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. I am convinced that our mission will have important added value for all the participants. Some are already operating successfully in India, while others are considering entering this exciting market. This visit provides an excellent opportunity to assist our companies in doing business with India. It is also a chance for me to meet with my Indian colleagues and discuss how our countries bilateral relations could be strengthened even further. I have every confidence that the Dutch business delegation will acquire a host of new networks and business contacts in India. Let s together advance the friendship and good relations between the Netherlands and India and strengthen the basis for economic growth! 20 Intravacc Intravacc offers a wide and in-depth range of vaccine related R&D-programs. Our aim is to substantially reduce development risks and costs of new vaccines in order to contribute to global health and equity in access to vaccines worldwide. Over 130 professionals cover more than one hundred years of know-how in vaccine development and technology transfer. We develope and improve vaccine design, production processes, analytics and technologies, including polio, DTP, Influenza, and Hib vaccines. This product will be introduced to the market from Jean Pustjens Marketing Manager The innovative concept "The Power Stake" is an integrated energy system with renewable energy sources solar, wind, water, soil and bioenergy and has storage systems for electricity and heat. This means that sustainable energy is available day and night. "The Power Stake" is designed as a small-scale stand-alone power supply, but can be expanded by location and coupling of multiple energy poles to large-scale power plants, as required on location, for example (Example: a large number of linked energy poles in an open field). "The Power Stake" can act as an independent energy source at any location in the world. 22 Sustainable Solutions The Netherlands Bicycle Partnership (NBP) is a partnership of Dutch companies, municipalities and knowledge institutions, such as APPM, HR groep, RingRings. Artgeneering, Sustainable Solutions, CWI, University of Amsterdam, Municipalities of The Hague and Amsterdam. The NBP is affiliated with the Dutch Cycling Embassy and Sustainable Solution is coordinating and representing the NBP. The NBP has developed a integrated approach for the introduction of Dutch cycling solutions as part of urban sustainable mobility strategies. 23 SweepSmart SweepSmart is a social enterprise that wants to empower the informal waste sector to clean India s streets. We combine our European Waste Management knowledge with their local entrepreneurship. We work together with local governments, companies and waste pickers organizations to make this reality. Our vision is a system of small-scale entrepreneurs managing all the waste in a city.
