27 End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Project is a national program administered by City of Hope and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing designed to enhance palliative care in nursing. This two day course provides nurses with opportunity to learn more about palliative care, the management of symptoms and pain, while creating the foundation for ethical, spiritual and culturally sensitive care. Nurses spend more time with patients and families facing the end of life than any other health professional. Nurses are intimately involved in all aspects of end-of-life care. Yet, studies have shown that many nurses feel inadequately prepared to provide the comprehensive care so important at the end of life. This course is being offered to help improve the nurse s knowledge related to end-of-life and palliative care. This two day course is offered to nurses and other members of the healthcare team who want to learn more about palliative care and how to improve the end of life experience for patients and their families.
