1 Fakultät für Mathematik, Informatik und Naturwissenschaften Introduction to Geventis Registration for the MIN Graduate School (MINGS) March 2015 In this short introduction you will find information about Geventis. After successful registration, doctoral students at the MIN faculty may enroll in courses of the MIN Graduate School International or submit application for funding or other purposes. All doctoral students of the MIN faculty can register to Geventis. You can find information about registration and usage of Geventis at Please note doctoral students who are members of one of the graduate schools listed at should use the manual listed in this section. Formally speaking you will be a member of the MIN Graduate School when your registration is accepted and the login is active. Membership in MINGS is not accompanied by additional regulations and rules. In Geventis you can find course overviews and a course description In addition information on courses and events offered by MIN Graduate School International can be found through Geventis. For further information see: Doctoral students, admitted at the MIN faculty, will need their login data from Docata (Online form for admission). Please enter your supervisors address and correspondence address in Docata for facilitating administration of your account. 1

2 Registration (executive summary) 1. Do I know my username and my password in Docata ( If not, request a new password in Docata or write an to mings@uni-hamburg.de. 2. Is my in Docata correct ( Please note, no private s, enter the from your institute / workplace click not yet registered. 4. Accept the data protection notice. 5. Select doctoral student. 6. Select Docata-MIN, enter user name and password (Docata) 7. Add information about your graduate program and submit the application. You will be notified via about the acceptance to Geventis. 2

3 Registration to Geventis in Detail 1. Do I know my username and my password in Docata? ( Please check. In case you lost your login data, request a new password. Refer to step 1b (at the end of this document) or write an to mings@uni-hamburg.de. 2. Is my in Docata correct? Check in Docata. Please note, that we do not accept private s for facilitate administration. Please enter your address at your research institute. 3

5 5. Register as. Please note the following distinction: Doctoral student = is admitted to the doctoral procedures at the University of Hamburg in biology, chemistry, earth system sciences, mathematics, informatics or physics. Doctoral students used Docata for application of admission. Doctoral students who recently started must first register in Docata (admission to doctoral procedures) and afterwards start the registration process in Geventis. Please continue with 6a and 7. Guest doctoral student = Register as a guest in case the doctoral examination takes place at another university or at another faculty of the University of Hamburg. Register as guest doctoral student in case you are admitted to the doctoral procedures before April 2011 ( alte Promotionsordnung der Fachbereiche). Please note: Guest doctoral students may attend courses from the MIN Graduate School International, but they may not apply for funding. 6a. Example Doctoral student: Select Docata-MIN Enter username and password of your Docata account. In case your login name or password is not valid, request a new password in Docata. 6 7. Enter additional information about your graduate school and submit the registration. After registering, you will receive a notice via . Use the button Request new password at Enter your address (provided by you while processing the online form for admission). Please note that your username will also be given in this . Result: You now get your username and password from Docata to continue your registration in Geventis. 8
