However, every now and then the media report on scientific misconduct. Besides such widely publicized affairs, major and minor breaches of the rules occur in the immediate environment of many a scientist. But what are the rules? This one-day seminar will introduce the Germen Science Foundation (DFG) recommendations on good scientific practice and the official procedures for dealing with scientific misconduct at the University of Oldenburg. Which mechanisms contribute to misconduct will be discussed and how every researcher can help uphold the principles of good scientific practice in his/her day-to-day activity.
