3 Whether you know exactly what you want to study or you re undecided about a major, Our Lady of the Lake University offers you the programs and support to help you build your dreams. OLLU s academic programs prepare you for the important decisions you will make about your life and your career. You will be taught in small-class settings by faculty who know your name so that learning is the focus of your time as a student here. Each OLLU graduate studies both General Education courses and a specific major or preprofessional field. Through General Education, you gain broad understanding of the world in which you live. We carefully design these courses to instill the values, skills and awareness that will be required of you in the future. For instance, every student completes a service-learning project mentored by a professor. By selecting one of our majors or preprofessional programs, you immerse yourself in a subject area taught by faculty who are experts in that field. Almost half of our students participate in an internship or practicum as part of their major, often with a business, school, social service agency, or laboratory. This hands-on experience will give you the edge employers and graduate schools seek. Throughout your time as a student, you will receive the support you need through OLLU s Academic Success Center and advising process. I really enjoy the close connection that I can get from my professors. That allows me to learn more from people that have experience in the field and engage me outside of the classroom. 4 A community that supports you You re introduced to our Career Services Office your first week at OLLU Our Lady of the Lake University is known for its close-knit campus, and our size (total enrollment 2,600) translates into opportunities for you inside of class and out. You will connect with other students and with faculty and staff quickly. We have more classes with fewer than 20 students than any campus in San Antonio. Our 12-to- 1 student-to-faculty ratio means that you learn with professors and not graduate teaching assistants. With more than 50 student organizations and academic honor societies, you can participate and become a campus leader from day one and not wait several years as you would at a larger campus. Opportunities to perform begin early whether you re the lead on stage in our 24th Street Theatre, a musician in our Wind Ensemble, a striker on our soccer team or the organizer of a recycling program.
