1 GENERAL INFORMATION AFSEC IECEx International Seminar NOVEMBER 2012 ABIDJAN / COTE D IVOIRE 1. EVENT The African Electrotechnical Standardization Commission (AFSEC) and the IEC System for Certification to Standards relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres (IECEx) in collaboration with the African Energy Commission of the African Union (AFREC), Union of Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electric Power in Africa (UPDEA), the Côte d Ivoire national standardization body (CODINORM), in partnership with the electrical utilities CIE (Compagnie Ivoirienne d Electricité) and CIPREL (Compagnie Ivoirienne de Production d Electricité) are organizing an international event for the benefit of Africa. The event will take place in two nearby locations i.e. the DPE-CIE site (Direction de la Production d Electricité de la Compagnie Ivoirienne d Electricité) located near the Vridi canal and the CIPREL site (Compagnie Ivoirienne de Production d'electricité) located at rue des Textiles in Vridi. 2 3. WELCOME AT AIRPORT AND TRANSPORTATION The delegates who send their registration in time to the Secretariat will be welcomed by the T3A company at the airport. Others will have to use their hotel shuttle or organize their own transportation. Transportation from hotels to the seminar site in Vridi will with a CIE bus. Collecting time will be indicated later. For private outings (e.g. shopping) you may use meter-taxis (fare is indicated by the meter according to the distance) which are available 24h/24h. You may also use ordinary taxis available every day from 05h30 to 22h30 (minimum fare 300 F CFA) or the service available at your hotel. 4. ACCOMMODATION Prices have been negotiated with some of the hotels. Accommodation is at participant costs. Please reserve your hotel directly using the list given in the registration form and indicate that you are attending the AFSEC - IECEx seminar organized by CIE. Don t forget to inform the secretariat which will follow up. You may also contact the Secretariat / Ms BAZZI ACKAH Nadine who will help you with your accommodation. The hotels are located in different areas of Abidjan, in the city centre. NOVOTEL Plateau The NOVOTEL Abidjan is a four-star hotel situated in the city centre, in the business area called Plateau, in the vicinity of the Ebrié Lagoon. The hotel has 201 rooms and is located 15km from the airport, with free shuttle service. 4 GRAND HOTEL Plateau The Grand Hotel is located in the city center, within the business area, along the lagoon. It is the only hotel in town offering balconies with view onto the lagoon. HEALTH For health problems, you should contact the Vridi first aid center on the Vridi site, in Marcory (near the Pâtisserie Abidjanaise) from 07h30 to 16h30, each has an ambulance. In Vridi you may contact Mme ANVO Henriette at the first aid center, Dr GUIZA tel and Dr MANBO tel at Marcory First Aid Center. The name of the CIE doctor on call at the time will be communicated in case of emergency happening not during opening hours.
