1 RESULTS OF THE EGAN LIBRARY ONLINE SURVEY REPORT Number of TOTAL respondents: 97 Satisfaction with the library online resources 74.8% reported they were Satisfied or Very Satisfied No survey taker reported being NOT SATISFIED Who were the survey takers? Class Standing and Major Other included high school student taking classes, non-degree seeking, independent study/personal development, MAT program, M.ed. in Technology, Grads / Masters students. 64.1% of respondents have declared their major, 14.9% plan to declare a major, and 17% don t plan to declare a major anytime soon. The majority of survey takers visited the Egan Library website anywhere from several times per week (26.6%), to once a week (22.3%), to a few times a month (27.7%). What resources do UAS students use when they need information for course work or a research project? Students selected multiple answers for this question. The most popular resource was Internet Search on Google, Google Scholar, Yahoo. Students also chose printed course materials and article databases offered through the Egan Library. Next in popularity was the Egan Library Catalog. Least popular (but still utilized) resources were Faculty, librarians, or other students, electronic books, and WorldCat.

4 Finding useful articles in library databases compared to finding useful articles with Internet search engines. Student Opinions about e-books Almost always find just what I'm looking for 10.9% Comments: Books are to be held, but since I don't always have the time to wait on ILL, I'll just print off the sections that I need. I have trouble reading from a screen for long periods of time. I try to stay away from electronic books because I just want to print the pages off to make it easier on my eyes. Books are to be held and not just viewed on a computer screen 4.4% Do students use refworks? is it useful or not? 37.9% of students knew about refworks and used it (but only 8.4% use it often) 34.9% of survey takers indicated they want to be taught how to use refworks and some of its advanced features. ILLIad interlibrary loan 52.2% of survey takers had illiad accounts (though only 36.2% use their accounts as of the time of the survey)
